Been tweaking FSX....Ive got the Herc working ok (sliders down...hence no ground shots) Still not sure about the B-52
And i love the tail view from the T6. The RAF Herc, for some reason, is great for screenshots......looks very real.

Looks like your tweaking is paying off. Again, that top BUFF shot looks photo-real!

Undecided as to whether I'll buy it myself - though I'm a real CS fanboi. I'm still not sure about the point of having military aircraft in FSX. That said, I love the Tornado - not sure why (it just looks the part) - so I may make an exception for that!

There used to be a tremendous Tornado sim (Digital Integration) that had the best mission/campaign editor ever. Every combat simmer remembers it with awe - it's never been bettered, even now.

Adam , the 52 would have to be the most Famous Bomber after WWII .. only for its years and track record , most the hulls are 50 an still on the front line ! Oh boy Boeing

Adam, Im a bit undecided about the B-52....makes nice screenshots, but i cant think of anything i could do with it. The herc is just great, i love all the mods and variants.

I think the c/s stuff really is at the top of the list.....like you , Ive got most of their stuff, but mainly for FS9. will have to save and do the upgrade....then get their FSX items.

Aaah ... but you can't dogfight (shoot things down), can't blow stuff up, don't need to avoid SAM missiles, dodge flak, try to break radar lock ... then get home (on fumes) with a crippled aircraft! ...

The problem is that I came to MSFS a long time after having "cut my teeth" on just about every combat sim that's been released. In many instances (notably Su-27 Flanker) flying head to head with real military pilots - who claimed the sim was realistic enough to practise real combat manoeuvres. Needless to say, they were unbeatable

My last few online outings were with the Kiwisim boys - with IL-2 - and it was incredibly immersive: hard but full of adrenalin fun. I just don't find stooging around "looking pretty" in a mean military machine that rewarding ... unless it's a Spit, that is

However - navigation, ATC procedures all that civil aviation stuff is done so well in MSFS. I get a real kick out of planning a flight - calculating the load-out, flying within safe limits and arriving on time (in all weather!). At least I *usually* get to land the aircraft!

Oddly, the price of a decent combat sim these days is a fraction of what you pay for MSFS + add-ons - and you get a proper handful of accurately modelled aircraft, better flight models, better avionics, better weaponry, online combat, campaigns etc. etc.

I hedge my bets and play *both*!

Adam , years ago i had a couple of those 'Janes" combat sims.....US Navy fighters i think....spent hours doing exactly what you decribe in your post....then Flanker (which was great for its time)
Do you know if there is a Vietnam era fighter sims around....that period really interests me....but not the bombers ie B-52.

Anyway....heres a couple of screens of the default Dak....dont see many shots of the default aircraft, some of which aint half bad .
Isnt that Dak just crying out for a MtCook paint job..........

There *was* one ... "Flight of the Intruder" ... but that was 1,000 years ago ;-)

Mate, agree with all you say. But the VRS SuperBug does give you some of the combat elements....sure it doesn't do damage modelling, etc, etc, etc, but chack this out:

Adam....my god...i forgot about flight of the intruder!! ....it was 1500 years ago, i think i first saw it on a "green screen" computer. Do you remember one called Lancaster?...it came out for the old commodore 64.....jeez, we cant be that old Thanks for the links.

Its expensive for an addon - worked out at nearly $75 bucks...maybe thats why I'm talking it up - trying to convince MYSELF that it was worth it too!!

Lancaster? Not "Dambusters" ?? I always wanted that but never did get it - I was a Gunship man....that and F19 Stealth Fighter...
