Wow - it's been AGES since I saw one of those: Marty, you must have a hanger the size of Area 51 with all the 'birds you've got squirreled away! laugh.gif

Anyone recall these parked up on the grass at Christchurch International , along Avonhead road , 1968 five off them on their last deployment ' Operation Deep Freeze ' , 69 they went home , also anyone recall the model of the Globemaster up in the upstairs lounge .

I do....ireally wanted that model....i think its in the chc museum now........jeezz i was 11 in 68.....thats not right, i cant be that old. Ian do you remember the neptunes that the US Navy used to send out here?....Im sure they went down south as well.

Yes....my hard drive is creaking with old birds....must get some more CD's and park them there.

The Model was mine till ... it disappeared , don't remember the Neptune , did see the DC-4 RD s , yes they flew south many using Wigram as start and landing at Invercargill for a fill up , back then was the Starlifter that was arriving , complete metal finish .

Heard from a friend today at the airport, that a C-5 is due on sunday....the ice season is due to start a bit earlier this year....couldnt confirm a time, but said early hours of the morning.

Just noticed that the globemaster hasn't got any props when its flying....strange...they are there when its on the ground.....i need new specs huh.gif
