My first flight in the JS41 without the manual in front of me didn't end so well

I started at Nelson and was heading for Wellington
preflight went alright and the weather forcast was for 8000 foot ceillings and no ice

After takeoff I headed for my crusing altitude of 7000 feet and the NS VOR

Then it was of to the BM NDB

Then it was time to cross the strait

The ceiling started to drop

and ice began to form

I could see Wellington

I turned onto approach the the engines caught fire

They never made it to Wellington sad.gif

Great screens! How did the engine catch fire ... over-revving, or do you need to open up coolers on descent?

Wicked Screens Kade cool.gif , puts VLC into its place , really made me fell like a passenger . You can see how real world pilot can use FS as a training tool .

I think the Ice did something even though it had cleared of in that last screen and I think i bumped the condition lever. It only has to go under 96% and they will catch fire and I was already at 98%.

Yup, that'll do it ... Presume this was far enough before landing that you hadn't got to the bit about putting them fully forward again ?

Cheers

Really cool screenies, especially that last sunset above- wow!

I was in Nelson the other day and saw the Origin planes parked up all forgotten about, wonder if they'll ever fly in NZ again?

Seems Malborough is getting to be the aviation bone yard - A4s one side of the sound and J4...1,s the other, surprised the type have not been snapped up ?

Hope not - bloody uncomfortable things. Air National run one on the Blenheim to Auckland route occasionally as support arrangement with Air New Zealand and I have been unfortunate to have done the flight twice. Because of the round fuse you end up with very little leg room and no way you can take on normal sized carry on baggage such as laptop bags as they won't fit. Most of us were turned sideways with our legs in the isle !! End result - I avoid the flight I know they run this on !!
