For those three of us who
a) Use FS9
b) Are part-time rotorheads ((OK, two)
c) Who didn't buy the Nemeth S-76 (Leaves just me, I guess?)

It has been made free (Legitimately gents, at the Nemeth site)
And so a few shots of this fine bird:

And a gratuitous chocolate-box one just for fun

See here's the thing...to fly a helo successfully you are making tiny corrections, all the time.
So your computer must be totally on top of it: absolutely no microstutters, hooks, glitches or anything that delays the response time in any way.
If not, your inputs start to get gross, and that's the end of it.

I always wondered why the FSX helos were so cr@p; they're actually not, but all the machines I tried them on, were ever so slightly short on performance in one way or another.
Bottom line: FS9 is the place to get fluent with the rotors (and later on, enjoy the scenery, too!)
And they're free, too!

But you knew I'd say that...

great pics thanks!
So just to clear something up and ask the dumb question, for downloading freeware in general, if its made for FS9 for example does that mean it won't work at all in FSX?
I have FSX but most of the helicopter add ons are for FS9 or older sad.gif

It depends- The only way to know for sure is to download it and try it- Occasionally you may find packages on Avsim that contain edited files etc to covert to FSX

It is usually the gauges and textures that cause problems which are both fixable smile.gif

This one will work in FSX ,the copit will need some tweaking by the user for the moment ,first change all copit textures in the texture folder of AC into DX1, then on flight1 there is a tool now to convert fs9 vc rain window replacement file ,will be in support downloads i forget now ,this is hard on flp in FSX, i feel if the gauges were swapped for FSX gauges it would be better on flp like the exterior model is ,just time i dont have for the moment ,this can be done in the panel CFG file under the VC line ..

Sweet, thanx Charl. This is such a great way for them to promote their payware helos too. Much more inclined to shell out for one after tasteing stuff like this aye

Cheers Charl,

Still a few of us FS9 Rotorheads kicking about.

There's a (20MB!) patch for this bird at the Nemeth site linked above...not sure what it does, but it's there.

And for those who absolutely must fly it in FSX, just remove the s76_uveg texture to stop the VC blacking out.
And there's a native version coming for you in 2011, too.

Northland Rescue paint would look good on this, eh?

...but until then, this one will have to do!

For those flying this beast, there's an aircraft.cfg and airfile tweak available at Hovercontrol, by Mister Helicopter Himself, Jordan Moore.
It totally transforms the flight experience I reckon.

Thanks Marty, if it coaxes just one more rotorcraft into the virtual skies, then it's job done...

Here's a good used Lambo just for you then, $389,000 sees it parked in your garage:
