Now that FSX is running "reasonably" well I can finally relax and fly around a bit instead of staring at the cfg file all night

This is over Mt Ruapehu with real weather. I'll come back again when it clears up.

Just interested to know though - are you flying with the autogen off completely? Can't see any trees/houses etc. And are you flying with detailed or simple clouds?

Hello. I don't use auto-gen as it eats FPS for breakfast,lunch and dinner. Unless someone comes out with a replacement set that don't have such a hit, I won't be turning them on,saying that, I would prefer to see them as they add more realism when flying low . As for the clouds,they are default at detail.
