Maybe I'll put them losers out for a potential screenshot prize (for the person that comes *last*,!). Throughout all of it, the weather outside the window was 100% humidity or solid rain. FSX/REX remained fully "in-sync" all the time. Quite creepy, really!!
Sometimes you just sit back and gape! Brilliant shots, BTW, you two. Better pull this thread quick before a certain splitpin dives in

My problem with real weather is living in Auckland ... (maybe that's my problem with *life*). Tends to be wet rather a lot! I use REX, but I must admit I do like that preview in ASE.

[R]eal [E]nvironment E[X]treme ...

Basically, totally re-worked hi-res textures for weather and runways/taxiways (not scenery or autogen) with a GUI for setting up themes etc. Like ASE, it also has a real weather engine. Some people prefer the way ASE does the updates, so use REX to install the textures in the first place, then ASE to drive the dynamic weather.
I've used REX for so long that I've forgotten what "default" FSX weather is like. It's an amazing add-on.

Well - I do think it's one of the better ones. I've bought a few bummers in my time. At the moment, it's $40.10 AU ... $52 NZ and they're throwing in a 16GB USB stick with it.
connor wrote:QUOTE (connor @ Jan 19 2011, 09:08 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>It looks pretty awesome, but is that them just playing around in photoshop?
Absolutely not ... not from what I've seen on my PC, anyway. However .. to use the full HD 4098px textures you'd need a pretty hefty system. I have mine set to 2048 (still better than the default 1024) and the results are still stunning.

Paul , R E X is great , you using Active Sky currently stay with , if that is well set up on a medium system you will be wasting money for REX

Thanks I downloaded this late last year and forgot about it so thanks for the reminder.
Yes I wonder if REX can run on my system with decent FPS with the graphics at an appropriate level so I get some benefit from it - me thinks it might be marginal.
