I'm sorry to say I only put up token resistance ... and didn't hold out for long. North Shore Rates' loss is A2A's gain ... but don't tell *her* (SWMBO)!!!! For all you kids born yesterday, that means "She Who Must Be Obeyed").

In a nutshell, the Accusim A2A Spitfire is the best aircraft add-on I've ever bought for FSX ... by a long way. I've often wondered what the point of flying *combat* aircraft was in MSFS ... but the beauty of this add-on is that you really have to learn to fly this (amazing) aircraft properly. It appears to take a LOT of practice! I don't know how the real pilots did it, but managing the aircraft *and* shoot down the enemy must have been an incredible feat ... of airmanship ... as well as courage.

Of course, my HD is now full of screenshots. I could bring Photobucket to its knees ... so here are a "select" few - from a short hop from Ardmore to Whenuapai:

A new arrival!

Climbed out without blowing up, for once ...

The Airtruk Killer!

Hmmm ... weather's closing in ... landing lights ON!

Whenuapai in sight ...

Gone to the Officers' Mess!

Hard to pick a favourite ... but I think this one deserves to be a bit larger ..

So if anyone has any lingering doubts ... I'd say simply ... GET IT (with the Accusim add-on).

EDIT: No.4 boosted (by popular demand!) to 1024px.

The Airtruk Killer!

Great aircraft and great pics Adam
Geez Marty isn't going to like that just do a close pass and the slipstream would be enough to knock his flimsy Airtruk out of the sky laugh.gif tongue.gif

There's a problem with FSRecorder recording Accusim stuff, so I went back to the Realair Spit to check. It really put it in the "toy-town" league ... yet only a day or two ago I thought it was the bees knees!

The modern jetliners (flying computers), I think most MSFS equivalents are fine ... but for "seat of the pants" stuff, I've long thought that many default (and add-on) aircraft have had very suspect flight models and never quite "feel right".

As to the AirTruk ... if someone was to actually give me one (a real one, the plane I mean!), I'd love to fly it around. Let's face it - it'd cause a sensation wherever it went!

After seeing your screens, and your comments, i had a chat to your SWMBO , got the go ahead to purchase it smile.gif Ive spent most of the last few hours with a big issue, that A2A helped fix(via their forum). It kept crashing my system....turned out that the coal burner cant handle the texture files, so i got a thing called texture swapper.....and away i went. I hate to admit(as a realair fan) , but this is benchmark product.....amazing. Have you noticed that you need an extra arm ....just to start the thing.

Re airtruk .....I knew it!!......your a closet truky ninja.gif .....now that your "out".....lets party, well have a multiplay truk fest thumbup1.gif

Have to say, 3 hours and 57 minutes isn't that long for 'holding off' - now you're tempting me. I'm made of sterner stuff though, I'm sure I will last a few more days at least - have to wait until there's cash available in the Visa account!!

whathesaid.gif ... that's what did it for me too.

So how come your Spitty pics are better than my Spitty pics, you barstool? laugh.gif

BTW ... there's an *amazing* quote in "killerwatt"'s signature at A2A ... not sure whether it's authentic (ie. said at the time) ... but it'd be even funnier if it was ...

"He's talking about our mess bills - Sqn Ldr Brian Lane 19(F)Sqn RAF (Having heard Churchill's 'Never in the field' speech)"

Sadly, I think MP with Accusim may be a bit "porked". Too many animation/sound effects are called in a non-standard (FSX) way. I suppose Accusim had to "think outside the square" to get a lot of the extra stuff to happen. Most Accusim MP users have reported stationary props, wrong gear/flap animations etc. A B-17 at 20,000ft with four dead engines and gear down must look a bit odd laugh.gif

We're a funny lot, us simmers ... make 'em too easy and we get bored ... make 'em too hard and we don't stick around for long enough to get bored ...

I remember when I first got Falcon4. I must've written off at least 100 F-16s before I managed to land the thing properly. Later I wondered how could ever have NOT landed well - it seemed so easy.

There must be so many parallels in Real Life (learning to drive being one of them) ... yet we expect to jump into a sim and do it first time!

Wonderful. All that the screenshots need is the sound of the Merlin engine. Hope that the A2A simulation has a great soundset.

Looks a great model though.

smooth landings.

After one false start, I've managed to make a decent HD Youtube recording of a simulated display. YAY!!

This is the successful HD version.

Best watched on YouTube proper, as this preview thingie seems to give a low(er) quality playback.

Bloody fantastic Adam the only fault was you forgot to throttle off on the landing I was waiting for that pop pop sound as you throttled back but didn't hear it biggrin.gif

Thanks! Not quite sure why, but my original recording finished early ... before I could roll to a stop. I think the phone went, so I just hit "stop" ... and couldn't be bothered to fly the whole thing all over again. I hadn't fried the engine for once.

I'm surprised no-one's mentioned it at A2A (maybe I will) ... but I haven't heard that distinctive "pop" yet. I remember seeing the BBMF Lancaster a few times - landing with FOUR Merlins popping away was quite something.

The novelty of my latest Paypal madness hasn't worn off yet ... it's a joy just watching the recording ... over and over and over again ... as I try to shoe-horn it into YouTube format.

I always love to hear the pop pop pop from the Merlin engines when they cut the throttle as they passed over the threshold jut before touchdown. Not many other aircraft motors had that sound when throttled off apart from the Gypsy motors on the Tiger moth which used to pop bang and backfire when the throttle was cut.
