Hallo!

Flew a nice old skool HS780 Andover aeroplane to a bush strip in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Trees at the end of the runway so had to do a bit of a dive ohmy.gif But made it ok.

Starting approach to strip. Some light rain!

Thick tropical jungle below unsure.gif

Gear down 3 greens-check, flaps-check happy.gif

Yikes theres the trees, almost clear of them blink.gif

Must....not....float.... ph34r.gif

Ouch...a bit hard dry.gif but we are ok..

We are down cool.gif

Full reverse unsure.gif

Made it ok biggrin.gif

Thanks for looking!

Hee hee, will trot on over to Borneo to check it out. Did RNZAF use these airplanes as well? I like the noise of the RR Darts!

Indeed , 1990-2 would have the last use , one has only been just retired to a Hanger at Wigram , Home of NZ RNZAF Museum ,

I hear a very similar-looking aeroplane to this is in active use in Thailand - the YS-11. I wanna find out where Andovers, HS748s, YS-11s & Fokker 27s are being used today!

Thanks for the infor on RNZAF HS780s!

Thanks guys! Interesting about the NZ Andovers ending up in Africa! Im still looking for a good website that can tell me if any Andovers are still flying. Would be nice to get some real-world routes!! I hope they are...after all they are using turbine DC3s in South America and stuff!!
