Its pretty but can't seem to get it to Hover ? get that sorted , current read shows already a patch already on its way

So much for ripping around VLC and plonking it down anywhere , i really want that helicopter option tongue.gif

Esay to load stores and GPUs when landed

Course has to come with the Naval Counterpart cool.gif

Interior is good but not fully click-able , most of that on 2D popups

Well - if it can't actually hover ... errm ... what's the point of this add-on? laugh.gif Don't they ever *test* these things before release???

It is STOL capable , but all the books and documentry i have here prove it wrong , my first WILCO buy , even the artwork show a vertical posture .. dont it figure a patch so early already .

Sounds like it's just got some extreme flaps wired into it. dry.gif

Are the nozzles automatic or do they need to be manually shifted?

Tim , The nozzles are hand controlled if you have a throttle quad (had a PC fail), currently my key ops are Ctrl F2 / F3 , but as yet a little inaccurate , in my view , low weights it simply wont go VTOL as yet but a patch is incoming apparently , i,m hoping !

I've seen displays with six Harriers hovering simultaneously - wow, was that LOUD?!!! Then went up and down and rotated horizontally quite happily (all to some background music that we couldn't hear anyway!).

Just a thought - but maybe a *fully fueled/loaded* Harrier can't do VTOL in RL? On carriers, they nearly always seem to take off STOL, but could land VTOL.

Does the RW model allow you to yaw when hovered? In RL they used "puffer" nozzles to achieve this. I suppose you have to persuade FSX that the jet has suddenly become a chopper laugh.gif

Adam , tried all different loadings ... classic is it still picks up speed 400 plus knots in its 98Deg.s nozzle position ? .. all STOL areas work fine , its the VTOL even mid air that don,t work , puffers don,t seem to work , rather early test 'bedstead control' this has no reaction control , current was to have a patch ..

It's certainly very photogenic. After reading all nine pages at SOH, was left with the impression that this is definitely not a 'kick the tires and light the fires' model - lots of book learnin' required.

Wilco did quite a good job with the Vtol simulations in their Bell 609, from what I hear. I've also heard that it was about as controlable as an Extra 300 when taking off and landing in the Vtol config. But realistic enough I guess? winkyy.gif

Awesome pics Ian thumbup1.gif ....i think I'll leave that one for a while....with my co-ordination problems at the moment, could make for some interesting flying laugh.gif .....but then again..... rolleyes.gif maybe after the upgrade I'll have a little spend.

The Wilco web site says that you need a copy of FSUIPC running in order to be able to VTOL. See the FAQ at the bottom of this page:
Visit Harrier Page

They say that there is a free version available but I couldn't find a link to it on the page they referred to. However, I'm sure that a Google search should turn it up for you.

I had FSUIPC running , many payware addons with this utility , PMDG747 was in stalled that stage and was working , screens were taken pre FS crash , controllable nozzles at 98 deg.s and it rolled forward ?

Problem fixed cool. cool.gif , took a while , re-downloaded , must have been the Christmas rush and a corrupted file - Hovers like a bumble bee super cool , now to recalibrate the throttle quad , you can move forward , you can back up , transition to level flight is a lotta fun .. will definitely be the Ultimate VLC explorer biggrin.gif

Is this the same file re-downloaded or a (new) patched version? Can't see how re-installing the same file could've fixed your control problems <?>.

Big question for me still though - can it yaw (chopper style) using the puffers? If it can, then I may consider buying it! In RL, I've seen these rotate horizontally at an awesome rate. To be honest, these are/were awesome aircraft anyway!

Adam , same file download ,YES ! down below the 60/90 IAS 70down on the VTOL gauge , very reponsive at 10/30 IAS at 80 VTOL cool.gif 'can it yaw (chopper style)' , this using throttle and rudder pedals . cool.gif
