Welcome aboard Joe Great shots...# 1 & 4 are real nice....black and white can be more interesting than colour, good job....and that is one nice aircraft.

Yea it's a great aircraft-- Bit of a pain to stop on the ice though!! Have had to get down to perilously low final approach speeds to even have a hope of success!! It's also painful to get it airborne, very careful scrutinizing of airspeed is necessary!! Yes Connor, you're plan is working--mind you I have been hooked on ice flights for a long time now Have you read the book Gateway to The Ice? Tony Phillips is the author, great read with lots of historic shots

What we really need is an decent Antarctica scenery. Aerosoft's upcoming Antarctica X looks to be a winner.

Yea, that's certainly right--very definetly need a runway we can properly stop on, without nearly stalling onto it!!

O how i wished i did not loose the old photos my father took in Korea and when on the last flights outta CHCH , Joe - do you recall the large die-cast C124 model upstairs in the southern corner of the Christchurch Airport terminal , this off course going back to pre 1974 .

Not that old Ian!! Although, I do recall seeing a picture of it somewhere-- I also have a pic here of about 5-6 of these in formation near the Port Hills.... How I wish I could have seen that....

I think it might be, I seem to have memories of a diecast C-124, and I certainly wasn't around in 1974.

Trust you Steve .. They did look very imposing , and sounded the power , least these had the balls to go out in style , seriously not nosing around but to be only replaced with the over-sized loads .... the GALAXY

Oh they were a worthy aircraft alright Ian. No doubt about that.

One off those types that really did the job ... My Father loved em ... course lucky to see them myself so so many times
