On a recent amazingly fun flight to the ice....

Climbing out of Christchurch--Black and white shots give a bit of perspective I think

Just to the North East of the Campbell Islands

The air is getting a bit chilly!!

Over Victoria Land

Enjoy, all feedback appreciated!!

Yea it's a great aircraft-- Bit of a pain to stop on the ice though!! Have had to get down to perilously low final approach speeds to even have a hope of success!! It's also painful to get it airborne, very careful scrutinizing of airspeed is necessary!! winkyy.gif Yes Connor, you're plan is working--mind you I have been hooked on ice flights for a long time now biggrin.gif Have you read the book Gateway to The Ice? Tony Phillips is the author, great read with lots of historic shots biggrin.gif

Cheers,
Joe.

What we really need is an decent Antarctica scenery. Aerosoft's upcoming Antarctica X looks to be a winner. cool.gif

Not that old Ian!! Although, I do recall seeing a picture of it somewhere-- I also have a pic here of about 5-6 of these in formation near the Port Hills.... How I wish I could have seen that.... sad.gif

I think it might be, I seem to have memories of a diecast C-124, and I certainly wasn't around in 1974. blink.gif tongue.gif

Yeah, probably Gateway to the Ice, or maybe the Air New Zealand Hangar 1? Sure I have seen it there before....

Trust you Steve :D .. They did look very imposing , and sounded the power , least these had the balls to go out in style , seriously not nosing around but to be only replaced with the over-sized loads .... the GALAXY
