Seeing as there's a bunch of usual suspects splashing out on the CaptainSim sale I figuired we could have a dedicated show-off thread.

I've got a love-affair with the 727 (and freighters in general) so having had the CS 727 for FS9 thought Id pickup the FSX model this time round. Following are a couple of shots of the Tasman Cargo machine loading up at Auckland for its usual evening flight across the Tasman (sadly departed from real-world NZ skies now, but a recent regular)

That scenery is missing the little portacon I spent too many hours in biggrin.gif

Loved going out to clear the 727. Even the cockpit was classy. Glass cockpits are cool and great for the crew but they don't have the same feel of business about them.

Great pics!!! As to freighters ... I've been holding out for a decent Bae 146 for FSX for ages. I can't believe they've actually released a *sound pack* for it but still the same OLD freeware version and nothing else.

I've already stuck some BUFF pics in the other thread. Maybe I'll re-install my old skins and post a few more here. EDIT: Here we go ...

The 727 has stood the test off time , CS has really done a superb job with this .. heck updated ,well almost 11 years old and brilliant .

I already had the Herc, Buff and 727, but acquired the 707 this time round. Great bird !

Yes, Jan, the 707's a classic isn't it? I got that one in the *last* sale .... but have to admit I don't take it out as often as I should!! Lovely screens! Are we going to see some 707 repaints from you then? winkyy.gif

As promised, the screens!

I did grab the 727, mighty pleased with it! But this is as close as I've got to leaving the ground with it. ohmy.gif I haven't really had a chance to sit down with it.



And as I said the 767. Also very pleased with it, but for some reason I can't get rid of the landing light textures, even with the lights out. blink.gif

It's got a lovely whoper of a manual, which I'm edging my way through. I've got this one off the ground though. tongue.gif

Getting the 727 off the ground is easy, the hard part is getting it from TOD (once you figure out where that is) back down again.

I grabbed the 767 too and managed to get it off the ground, no screenies though as very shortly after arriving at cruise altitude in LNAV / VNAV all sorts of alarms and the stick shaker went off then the plane returned itself to earth.

Backwards.

Got a shiny new plane, got REX (but haven't installed it yet), now I guess I'd better work on some of these airports LOL

Mate, I've read the part about the autopilot, and I'm still confused! laugh.gif I guess I'll just have to experiment a bit with it, away from houses. blink.gif

- turn on the autothrottles and flight director (the two little toggle switches) and press one of the CMD buttons (normally the centre one)
- dial in a target speed then use the SPD button to stick to it
- dial in a target altitude and use the FLCH button to get there
- dial in a target heading and press the middle of the knob under the heading window to follow it

It's better to set something up in the FMC and let the computers worry about how to do it, but that should get you started.

The other thing that normally tricks people is that you dial in the ILS frequency and course on the radio in the centre of the pedestal, not the nav radios.

Gary , one product you need to buy is VLC , no frame hit and next time you are involved with a rally you can use it as your road map biggrin.gif

Yes - on a second look, that's a cracker as well! Are your seasons set right? Your AKL looks awfully "dry" for this time of the year laugh.gif. Maybe the Super City that I have greens things up a lot more.

Seasons are probably wrong - I loaded a flight that put the plane in Seattle then moved it to Christchurch, it was still daylight so I never gave a thought to checking the season smile.gif

My cities need work and that's the next thing to be worked on, what would you recommend ? There seem to be a few choices out there ...
