Posted: Sun Jun 25, 2006 3:01 pmPionair used to be a private company operating corporate and scenic flights around New Zealand using renovated DC-3's. Unfortunately, they have just sold off thier fleet, leaving only 1 airworthy DC-3 left in the country.
Today I flew a memorial flight in ZK-AMS from Masterton (NZMS) to Wellington (NZWN) over the Tararua Ranges and took the following shots. I chose ZK-AMS as there was an advert in a recent edition of the "Pacific Wings" aviation magazine I own, selling her for NZ550,000 and I just thought I'd see if it was worth that price
1. Takeoff from NZMS
2. Climbing over the foothills
3. Reaching cloud base altitude
4. The next four images are overhead the mountains
5. Crusing over the mountains
6. Crusing over the mountains
7. Crusing over the mountains
8. Descending over Wellington harbour
9. Crossing the theshold over runway 16
10. Parked up at the terminal
My conclusion? Well if I had half a mill then I'd buy myself a DC-3, but as I don't I am happy to settle for this free repaint from flightsim.com
