Heresy!!!However - I always had a sneaky respect for the unfortunate Stirlings.
Some aircraft can look pretty ugly in pics but stunning in RL. I thought Blenheims were only "average" 'til I saw one being thrown about the sky (very disrespectfully). Surprisingly agile and it appeared to be fast (could've been an optical illusion!). There again, it wasn't meant to be a "bomber" was it <?>.
Andrew - is that an FS9 Halifax? I haven't had one on my system for years.

The Stirling , that is another that really seem to show a strength , that very famous colour photo showing the crew walking away after a mission or the bombing up .Adamski wrote:QUOTE (Adamski @ Nov 25 2011,10:46 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>There again, it wasn't meant to be a "bomber" was it ?
The same propaganda as the German forces stated the Do17 and He111 as fast mail plane , Bomber it was and course the Blitz a inadequate night fighter .

That's a real gun in the top turret.

As you said Dave , a Real turret , I should have mentioned this is the prefer,d Halifax , Night Ops .. it was the rear that required the defence and two four gun turrets seem more logic to me , but course many Lanc rear end charlies op'td for the twin .5 browning to a four .303 , guess just gunners choice , the night belonging to the lucky and the really good .
