So true , you can't put everything in , simple case of getting most right , what you see is very close , its good to have photo to compare and its better when it blends

It will show where ORBX's trees are but shouldn't be and where small towns exist but ORBX has emitted to place.
I would of thought that Google Earth would of been a good reference for getting the NZSI scenery right.
Orbx uses the 'normal' landclass system, accurate to 1.2 kilometres, so you can't really compare the accuracy to VLC, which uses vector polys accurate to about 60 metres. Sure, Orbx use some vectors in NZSI, but nowhere near the same extent as VLC. So differences are not 'wrong' as such, just the result of a different method. There are a lot of features which you just can't 'resolve' within the normal landclass system, since anything significantly smaller than 1.2x1.2 kilometres won't appear unless you add a vector polygon.
This is one reason why I'd love to see VLC's accuracy with custom textures -- it would be pretty impressive, as well as impressively pretty...

Hello can you zoom in closer in the next screenshot and untick the photoreal scenery in the scenery libraary.

One note here I also have Robin's Nelson airport installed so I'm not sure were the Real NZ coverage ends and VLC textures take over so we are not really comparing apples with apples.
Just noticed the image is heaps lighter once it's uploaded....Will play around tomorrow to get it looking more like what I see on my monitor
Real NZ/VLC Nelson starts slightly left of centre here.Last edited by toprob on Wed Jan 04, 2012 8:44 am, edited 1 time in total.

Yes, the point I was trying to make is that there are major differences in the way that these two products reproduce the South Island, and that these differences can't be classed as errors, omissions or otherwise 'being wrong'.
I do have a few minor 'end user' issues with FTX NZSI, which I'm mentioned before, and mainly relate to the fact that I know the place well, but it is a great product overall.
I will complain about various things from time to time, but generally these are more developmental issues -- in particular, things which affect my existing scenery, which I'm attempting to fix. Some of these issues drive me balmy -- I've held back the release of the little freeware Murchison, as it made sense to release something which was non-partisan, but this might not be possible with FTX -- their airport elevation is 10 metres (30 ft) out at Murchison, which isn't a simple fix. So it may require two versions of some new releases, except that I hate that idea. Not because it means more work (ok, a little bit...) but because it gets confusing for the users.
I'm pretty sure than most FTX customers won't even notice the things which make me grumpy, but most of my customers will. Orbx couldn't have made it more difficult for existing addon developers if they'd tried.

Like their cricket 30 years ago , so under-armed , and the joke for them was we were bowling to fast ... 30 years later , so under handed and we build scenery to fast .
