Doing a bit of investigation the Stuka appears to be a GMAX conversion of Wolfgang Faber's old model for CFS which was so well regarded it was tweaked and coaxed to work in sim after sim version right up to FS9. That was one of my favourite planes and I was gutted when it wouldn't port across to X. I got another Stuka, but it was nowhere near as good so it's great to have Wolfi's legendary bird flying again, and with Morton's amazing repaints bundled in as standard too. With Milviz and Classics Hangar working on an all-new FSX native one as well, these are good times for Stuka pilots!

Thanks for the comments Ade, i only found this by accident ....i was looking for (and still am) a good Mk-24 Spitfire, and i found the Stuka. Expect more screensAs you are, Im looking forward to he new ones coming out. Seems to very little new "axis" stuff being released.....its all P-51, P-40,or the like......which is good, but .......
Also looking for a good 110 and Ju88.Olderndirt wrote:QUOTE (Olderndirt @ Jan 9 2012,6:56 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>Nice one - looking forward to the new version from Classics Hangar.

Good news on more screens![]()
After a good afternoon's work yesterday, I'm pleased to report excellent results with this Stuka here. I installed it and found some good new visual effects plus a droppable-ish (you'll understand if you've seen it!) bomb had been modelled onto Wolfi's aircraft in this version. As well as Morton's repaints (which were addons for the original, but are the defaults here), both Erafitti repaint packs work and I was also able to transfer the original model's default schemes, three Regia Aeronautica liveries in as well. The only issue will be that Morton's repaints have been tweaked to include textures for the new bomb, which any old repaints won't have, so in those cases the bomb appears untextured or with incorrect textures. It's very minor though. I replaced the soundset with Lawdog's custom Stuka sounds and also the supplied airfile with one from another Stuka as I found her very nose-heavy in flight and on take off especially. After dropping in the replacement glass and prop texture files and tweaking the sound.cfg to add the dive siren (only audible inside the cockpit, but good enough), I now have a virtually identical installation to my Stuka in FS9.
I know what you mean about Axis stuff Marty. When I was building Airfix kits as a child, you'd start off with a Spitfire and Hurricane but quickly want something to put up against them which would be a 109 and then you'd always get a Stuka next - but I was surprised how difficult it was to find a good Stuka for FS9 and that was even more the case for FSX. As far as I know Classics Hangar are the only developer who specialise in this area - good job their releases are so exceptionally good! The Milviz Stuka model is breathtaking and they've talked to real pilots and engineers to get it right. Classics Hangar are doing the systems and programming. It's been on the production line for a couple of years now but I'm sure will be well worth the wait.

Ade, i had you pegged as the cloth capped, village vicar type, with your pipe ,pottering about in the old DH on a warm afternoon...how wrong i was
Heh heh! They always say you should watch out for the quiet ones... let's just say it's a good job the time difference makes it impossible for me to hop into multiplayer. You never know what I might turn up in![]()

You know how it is, sometimes there just comes a time when you have to push up the throttle, get that siren going and diiiiiive.... fantastic fun!

Im going to go and find some of those repaints you mentioned, I'll keep you posted......thanks for all the reaserch
I know, it's great to have it working in FSX. The siren on my cobbled together configuration only works from inside the cockpit (it's a substitution for the wind sound) but it's great to hear it as you reach the right speed and see the ground rushing up towards you. Those Stuka pilots must have been truly fearless.![]()
Let me know if you have any trouble finding all the bits and pieces, as I have original zipfiles for them all which I could pass on if needed.
Cheers,

One sortie showing the 87 to High up Generals lost 3/4s of a squadron pushing it for them , simply blacked out and crashed , after that put in auto levelers altho many removed them .

I use Steve "Lawdog" Buchanan's brilliant Stuka soundset which includes the dive siren and gear touchdown sounds as well as an authentic rendering of the Jumo 211 engine. To add in the siren, I found these instructions on another forum - add this to the sound.cfg:
[wind_sound]
filename=siren
flags=0
viewpoint=1
rparams=200.000000,1.000000,520.000000,2.500000
vparams=200.000000,0.000000,520.000000,100.000000
minimum_volume=4500
maximum_volume=9500
minimum_rate=0.60
maximum_rate=0.90
minimum_speed=200.0
maximum_speed=520.0
link=wind_sound.1
[wind_sound.1]
filename=siren
flags=0
viewpoint=2
rparams=200.000000,1.000000,520.000000,2.500000
vparams=200.000000,0.000000,520.000000,100.000000
As it's a subtitution for the wind sound, you can only really hear it inside the cockpit after the plane hits a certain speed but it works really well and the sounds as a whole will completely transform your Stuka flying experience. I can't remember where I found the Lawdog soundset - I set it up a few years ago on FS9 - and seemed to remember it was quite hard to find but it was one of the major FS sites.
Hope that helps,

The list of kills including a Russian Battleship , his sortie rate went above that number also using the FW190 .. some off those Germany pilots simply exceeded and blown the history books for ever .Last edited by Ian Warren on Fri Jan 13, 2012 7:20 pm, edited 1 time in total.
