Been on board the Sunderland at MOTAT , she was a hell off a mess then , the Solent was locked up , pre hanger days , a brilliant little Doco 'Wings over the Waitemata' has some interesting storys and tale about these plying the Tasman , engines ... best description .. you no the sound Marty .. Two Bristol Freighters glued together

Nice shots Marty. They'd make a great multiplay up in the pacific islands, do some island hopping about the place, drop into a lagoon here or there

Was just reading the NZ aviation-news mag article from December on the Sandringhams last night: 27tonne, 4x1200hp P&W R-1830s, cruise speed 120-150kts.
If they had a heafty head-wind could be up to 12hrs to cross the ditch to Sydney. Now that's leisure travel

I have these beauty TEAL posters adourn my wall , old 1950s adverts showing the the special deals of the day , limited photo and most artwork/paintings from the period course the Solent appears as the primary aircraft .

The Solent was little more powerful with its Bristol,s but the stories landing at Sydney with only a cup off fuel are legendary , Capt Burgess in the Short C - mail and a quail only .

Be a mission/sortie over the distance s , maybe around the NZ coastline course would have to include the Cat .

Could almost say the same for the C-130J , sounded more like two ATRs glued together , two Bristol Freighters , now there was to be one for FSX , not the Super by Garry Russell but another . Now with a running Bristol next door to Doug place be interesting to contact Steve and see how much has been done since .

Great shots Marty.

Would love an Accusim verion of that. I was complaining once about how long it took to get across the ditch on a herc and my aunty told me that she had done several trans-tasman flights on the TEAL boats in the '50's. Very different from what we are used to these days

gets a bit like that sometimes.....for example, if i change the time of day to get a different light.....first theres a blank screen, then a texture free aircraft, followed by the sky....then the scenery....then the autogen, by which time the aircraft has painted it self.......takes forever. But hopefully all that will be resolved on friday
