Hi Guys,

Just a couple of sneeky ones.

I was trying to recreate a photo of a Caribou over Mt Cook that was taken back in the 70's. Unfortunatly i can not find the old photo, and if memory serves I think it was a 38 Squadron Caribou and not a 35 Squadron one.....

Take off from Pukaki....

"Clean up"....

North along Lake Pukaki towards Tasman River....

Mt Cook...

Tim , first time i saw one off these in the metal flesh was flying out off Wigram , ways back when i was at Riccarton high school , one off the last time i saw one was just after an Omaka Airshow , had engine probs , Wigram was on the poise to closing down , many idiots who brought housing estates on the defunct ex-mil grounds who complain about the noise gotta a good pasting , they had fix the engine and run it up somewhere ... Oh the sound was music to my ears ... and even running it up 11.00pm that night .. oh the wish for them to stay for another week .

Thanks guys!

She may be ugly to some people but I think she is/was one of the best aircraft ever built!

Thanks god HARS has two now and will keep one flying. So you can still hear that engine roar Ian.

I was pushing her RAAF operating altitude to do those shots... I was at about 11,000 ft.

Nice shots Tim, really show off the terrain in a clever way. Gives you a feeling of being there.
Great old machine too huh, pretty amazing to think the aussies have only just retired them. I bought this last week in the PCAviator sale, was 40% off I think, couldnt resist.

She maybe a FS9 port over but she is still alot of fun!!

Be sure you get "Barry Magann" repaints of her in 38 Squadron. they come in a pack of four.

Hi Ian,

A little while back (couple of months) I was talking to Barry about if he would do a repaint of the Caribou in its final colour scheme with "45 Years of Service" motif on the tail and nose.

Is this what you are after?

I could drop him a line?

Great shots of one very sexy bird and thanks for HU for the repaints too, downloading them now.

I have one Auscam verson that I ported from a FS9 repaint onto FSX which I think is 35 Sqn paint as at 2008. Not sure if it is the same as Barrie's one but was the only one I could find at the time if you would like a copy of it.

Here you go - I'm not sure of the orginal repainter. I take no credit at all for this at all - just thank the person who did this for FS9. I just converted the files to FSX format.

Thats fantastic Splitpin!!

It looks like the old "Egg" series of aircraft that Hasegawa did back in the 80's/90's.....

And still current. http://www.hasegawausa.com/aircraft_egg.html

My initial view of your shots was restricted because of their width and, when I got to #4, I was really impressed. Seeing just the mountain, most of the Caribou and Lake Pukaki in the background made for a very nice shot. Widening it out, of course, revealed the rest.
