Marty , always liked the Lightning , Hell its a Lockheed , have a freeware one here , course the DVD , Rick left it here for safe keeping smile.gif

Thanks Ian....some great stuff came out of Lockheed, but the P-38 has to be the best looking.

Off all things , the 38 ... maybe have been two off them together during WWII biggrin.gif , Richard Bong .. the US top scoring fighter pilot scored his kills in the 38 and 40s getting 40 kills cool.gif

Did the 38 carry on into Korea like the stangs and a few others?

Only for a very short period and very early also only in the Night Fighter training role and recon .. i think the F-5 variant

Only the very late model and a totally different in many respects , reading here was used as a trainer for the nightfighter groups .

This plane first flew in 1939, a year after I was born, so it was more than ready when the war started. Tommy McGuire was a close second to Dick Bong with 38 kills. He let Charles Lindbergh fly combat with his squadron and I read he got a few.
