I stumbled upon my first VLC hut, the Black Peak ski hut which is located in the Real NZ Wanaka area. Took me a while to actually land, I did need to 'wait' for better weather (actually dialed in down in the weather setup...) but finally managed it without loss of life. I did discover that you need to take care after landing, as you can easily get blown off the ridge.

Of course there isn't much to do in the summer -- here's a tour of the facilities in winter. Ok, tour's over...

Speaking of winter, the Real NZ Wanaka update will include a 'switcher' to turn off the aerial image in winter if you like, and let Vector Land Class or NZSI show through, depending on your preferences.
Here's the hut in winter, VLC:

And NZSI -- of course there's no hut, as this is part of VLC.

Whats the changes with the Wanaka update Robin?

Saw my first VLC hut too recently near the top of Ruapehu...couldn't land though as I was in a L-39...

Nothing major, just a few tweaks.

Compatibility with NZSI;
A tweaked airport aerial to make it work when the Wanaka summer aerial is turned off;
(The airport aerial is still pretty ugly, this was made from some photos I took on a scenic flight long ago, not even thinking about photographing the airport, just took a couple of snaps of the area.)
Default windsocks replaced by VLC library windsocks;
Redid the tarmac markings etc just because it is a lot easier these days with Arno's Ground Poly Wizard;
Autogen redone completely (just plodding along);
An autogen texture for willows.

The autogen is the time-consuming bit, and some people wouldn't even notice the changes, but the original FSX release just reused FS2004 autogen, so it was definitely time to put this right.

Honestly, I don't believe that there's NO WAY to land a L-39 on Ruapehu...
