These are "work in progress" shots of a rather familiar Spitfire (that is, if you can believe a MkIIb can look like a MkIX )

An early morning spin, somewhere just north of Whenuapai.













My real love is an Airtruk, but the Spit comes a close second . Needless to say, I got a great deal of pleasure out of "playing" with this repaint ...

I'm so often surprised by what FSX can "churn out". There's no REX - or even scenery (well, hardly) in these shots. It may be down to the amazing way FSX handles light(ing) ... and of course, you need a decent aircraft - thank you, A2A!

Often, nothing diminishes a shot more than scenery and/or clouds and, of course, othertimes. an aircraft is the culprit. Good stuff.

Nice one Adamski, my favorite be keeping an eye on this.

Nice..maybe you could do Al Deere's Mark 1 as well? -- or has that been done on this model?

Mark Lawrence has already done one for the WOP3 Mk1 - p9390.zip on flightsim.com. He's also done a RealAir version of PV270.

I'm doing it mainly just to get some more repainting experience, as it appears every add-on producer does them in a different way

Adabra....love the water in #3........may i say, and I'm not being picky.......but the spinner on that model, just aint right.....detracts from the whole shot.

I think I know what you mean ... but I can't work out precisely what's wrong with it. Looks like a cartoon thing stuck on the front. Or is it the shape?

Wow, if you never said it, I would have never noticed that weird dome on the front. :-)

I think that it might be the shape and lack of texture. Everything looks really good but there is something about it that does not add up. The whole aircraft has great shadows. But, that spinner does not have anything.


And yes, I know, this is not the same model of spitfire.

I think when a camera "stops" the prop/spinner, we see a bit of detail (the cut-outs for the prop etc.) ... but when you freeze-frame in FSX, you just get the spinning prop texture - totally featureless. I'll try a few angles with some *front* lighting, but I suspect it'll still look odd.

Here's a Spitfire really helping the war effort. Apparently, after D-day, an English brewery informally agreed to provide RAF squadrons with beer for the troops. Each squadron had an aircraft modified to carry beer barrels or beer-filled long range drop tanks and, once a month, this plane made a round trip for "supplies".

See ... tried to tell everyone old 'Beer Barrel' from the movie 'The bridges at Toko-ri' was an American Naval transfer pilot on loan to the RAF ... true .... One thing the troops did like was that beer was chilled after the flight .

BURP ! , I was waiting for that answer , the story there come from Roger Freemans B-17 at War were the Forts were operating out off the Java , early period and tools/jacks were in a short supply and a Brit asked for tools from the company CO against the crew chief recommend think he would'nt he them back .. so appreciated the Brit brought the tools back plus couple kegs off Ice cold Beer , mentioned he love the Pomms after that .

How they got the to them was'nt mentioned .. more off a ship than a Spiting good delivery
