I just read an article on the making of this model (WBS) amazing . These guys are up there with the best of them, and i think its because they have just concentrated on the one type...like CaptainSim seem to be throwing everthing into their Boeings at the moment...and doing amazing things.

This baby will(if not already) be the benchmark P-51. Have to save a bit and get the "little friends" addon, its an even more detailed set.

Thanks Adam (so hard to just call you Adam ...but i must not torment you anymore)....anyway, yes its a paint for the part of the series.
They started with the P-51B's which are nice....then onto the D's with 2 addons after part 2.
They just keep getting better and better ....they just need to dirty them up a little, but i see repainters starting to do that now (for the B's anyway)....dont mean to go on , but you wont go past it.
As for reviews, i dont read many other than those that appear here...rather the rivet counters you know , than the one's you dont

One thing about young Mr Terrell's models, they can handle a close up. Understand his next project is the Bell P39 Aircobra series.

John Terrell is not only a fantastic modeller but warbird encyclopedia...he probably knows just about every WW2 restoration in the world...althoiugh I have had to update him with news on a warbird restoration arriving in here in New Zealand.....

Thanks again guys, yep its a pretty amazing model....right down to wear on the edge of the tyre.

The next stang developers will have to work bloody hard to top this....certainly not a stopgap....a benchmark.

This latest offerings from WBS may well end up better looking than other P-51's in development but its not hard to beat WBS's basic FSX systems modeling . They look great but when you jump in one and flick the fuel pump on and hear the default sound and other switches with no sounds then that ends the ride for me pretty quick.

Not being a systems person, internal sounds dont become an issue for me. I guess Im looking at the hobby from the non tech point of view (more visual)
As this (wbs) is a relative newcomer, Im sure the issues concerning you will be addressed , as they seem to be quite receptive to user input.

Come to think of it, Ive never heard a real P-51 fuel pump working, or maybe i have and haven't taken any notice.
So it just became even less of an issue.....for me anyway.

All good ... but ... (I know this is a sore point for you ) ... when you get in the *A2A* Spit and hear that peculiar "squelch" sound when you use the primer, it certainly adds to the "atmosphere". Having never actually primed a MkII Spit, I wouldn't know how realistic it is ... but it makes that dream just a tiny bit closer.

Please don't tell me you've just jumped into that Spit and cranked the primer in RL - or I'll have to drive down and throttle you (oooh, nice pun there!).

No i haven't, but i will in the morning and report back. I know all that stuff is important to you purist's, and fair enough.....all i was was saying is that i go too sleep at night counting sheep not rivets
Its a very subjective hobby, often critiqued by uninformed experts (myself included in the past)....but thats what makes it enjoyable i suppose.
