I did a nice wee exploring flight in Flight this evening: Just jumped in the RV6 early morning and headed off with no particular aim smile.gif So, here are some shots!

A nice touch which I didn't notice at first is the shadow of the aircraft is cast on the prop- I had the sun behind me at this stage

A cool 'Aerocache' I found- A gap in the rock similar to Cathedral Cover

Notice the 'crazing' on the canopy smile.gif

Some low level flying....those new shorelines sure look good.

Flight really does make flying a lot more enjoyable than FSX- The terrain is smooth and is shaded by other terrain (i.e. the sun will sink behind a hill and cast a shadow on other hills, the trees and your aircraft) and trees are shaded as well which really gives a better sense of light. In fact, lighting is one of the major improvements I'd say....it's very convincing.
Weather also has had an overhaul and is much more realistic- Clouds puff past the plane and visibility changes far more realistically than FSX.

One also gets a better sense of height due to the better mapping of textures onto cliffs...and the streams/waterfalls are a nice touch too

Back on the ground

mmmm proper shadows

Pressing 'E' allows you to walk around....it's a nice wee feature

Thats it for now.

Flight really is growing on me smile.gif

Nice series of pics thumbup1.gif. How big is the initial download+install? I hope it doesn't mess with an existing FSX in any way winkyy.gif

1.43 GB for the core game and I've recently purchased the Hawaii expansion pack which is another 860 MB (Well worth it I think)- The RV6 is nicely detailed and great to fly smile.gif

I can understand your view if you only spent 10 minutes with it Ian....trouble is you need to go through those 'tutorials' before unlocking the good stuff....in saying that, just setting up a free flight with some interesting weather, early morning and going exploring is very fun.
