FSX, FEX, REALAIR, A2A.

A lovely bird. Took mine for a spin the other day after neglecting it for 3-4 months. Wow, it was such a nice experience. Though I love all the A2A aircraft their spit makes me feel as if I am really flying - it makes me think like Jonathan Livingstone Seagull (sorry, you younger chaps may not know about that) - soaring through the air, just flying for the pure enjoyment....

Neil Diamond would for the love of seagulls .. they dive and Spit at ya out on the Sumner Spit , attack and dive in .. Oh Jonathan Livingstone Seagull and Spitfires Ripper !

I didn't mean to compare the two (well maybe i did )....and i know their not the same version Spitfire ....but ........i know which one looks better too me

Maybe if A2A do the same mark i will retract all this...but untill then, Im sorry, from my (screenshot) point of view, RA wins hands down.......awaiting your replies ....

Here's one we don't often see - the prototype.

I agree the Mark IX looks neater and maybe even Realairs model (looks more glossy maybe) but I cant wait for the A2A Spit Mark V....BTW great pics all round.

Actually why does A2A make rarer marks of each model? I might of been more interested if the P-47 was a Bubble top, P-40 - defnitely would of bought if it was a P-40E/M/N same with the Spitfire - would of prefered a Mark IX or XVI....although the Mark V is a definite. At least the Mustang is a "D"

Paul , the Razorbacks , they are very common even in the later stages of the war .. in a way both that and the earlier P-40 least have some little Kiwi connection .
But anyways yes the Mark V will get hangered here .. now i have a complete squadron

Dave , Now that is not an A2A but yep a Goodie .. its good it has been modeled and it is fun , there is an A2A paint and you can mod the cockpit and propeller in the virtual hanger but the tailwheel lets ya down

Cripes Marty your a trouble maker

That plane, unpainted, first flew in 1936 with a tail skid. A week or so later, it received the grey paint and a full castering tailwheel. Historically they're slightly confused.

Very nice marty. The 4th one in the 1st series and the last in the 2nd series have fantastic lighting / balance that is what I would consider photo-real: well done! In fact all the pics are very good, but those 2 in particular stand out to me.

Re my screens, i gave each shot the same treatment .....just a few more of the the RealAir spit.

If i may say some something about the A2A spit......accusim or whatever aside...it just dont look right around the canopy area.....some kind of strange light from inside, and i think it detracts from the whole thing ....... and the landing gear when viewed from underneath (retracted) looks painted on , and the spinner is odd.

These are only my views , but if this thing is meant to be as real as it gets, it should at least look the same.......dont you think?

Maybe Im being unfair ....the whole thing is subjective , everyone looks at everything from a different angle.

Agree Naki, when you think of a P-47... its a bubble top , and a P-40 is most definitely one of the later models , but i suppose its good to cover all the bases , just like WBS with the full range of Stangs.

who made the prototype model? i would love it.. i think she looks gorgeous with the small radiators, covered mains

It's part of the JustFlight Spitfire package - one of the three elements of their BoB package.

Really? I actually think of the Razorback P47s and the MKV is the Spit that I think of. The BF109E, B17F... Mayby Im unconventional. I think of the standard Kiwi and Aus P40s though.

I guess I think Bubble top P47s as they are more common on teh air show circuit...same for the Spitfire MkIX (and P40N) ..although that was the common mark anyway

Regarding the 47 guess when i brought my first kitset of one i went the teardrop variant , the model had the option , course me being a War Lover , soon as A2A released the Thunderbolt is was no hesitation again course with books i have here ready then fly the way many these war time hero's did or try out some ACM , the clincher is JanKee's wicked paints .

Just interest sake i purchased a 16 DVD set from the USA , a doco history on WWII , shows many P-47s in action .. one piece of footage is SHITE he was lucky ... clean thru pine trees after a strafing run ... he got the target - fact the film is there shows he survived but i'd say were few stories around the camp fire that night
