Those are nice clouds but a feeling I get from both your and Ian's shots is that North was done differently than South. Just something about the look of the terrain.

Think that is more caused by the defining backbone of the Main Southern , Canterbury fertile plains basiclly built over the millennium from westerly flow having Banks Peninsular as the primary volcanic of the south were as North is more the opposite way Taurarua's finishing the backbone and West / Mid ? north and east prominent volcanic areas .
