Anyone recall the stir when the Mig-29 was revealed to the western world then along came this puppy ... oh boy

When I was working on Elmendorf AFB, the U.S. - USSR detente was in full swing. A Mig29 landed, enroute to a big airshow in the south 48. We were at the 'O' club after work and some of the resident F4 jocks invited us along to inspect this stranger. Tiny compared to the F4 and painted that special Russian blue, all were in agreement it would give lots of agony in a fight.

That would be true in the right hands , give them to another armed force maybe would be a totally different story , 1981 Gulf of Sirte incident , more a 'TOPGUN' story than a show for the Lybians .... Su22 fire head on to tomcats with early ATOLLS , what were they thinking
