Cool Screen indeed... i remember test pilot, they used to show it on TV 1 on a Sunday, i have it somewhere on VHS, i remember it primarily because there was kiwi on the course who did the test flying of the A-4 Kahu back when we had a real air force

Yes indeed ... Air Commodore Steve Moore, MNZM , i flew with him in the back seat ( of course) of 6254 , way back when he was a Flight lieutenant.
Ex Wigram , down through the Mackenzie County , and back up the coast with a few aerobatics over lake Ellesmere (Te Waihora ) we were part of a 2 ship trip, us and another T.
Funny what you remember....our call sign was "Jade 1"

When we landed , i was exhausted.... all the "g's" took their toll.

Had you have been there Ian , Im sure you would have got a ride ... knowing you winkyy.gif

It was awesome , after posting i kept recalling things about the trip ... i remember the pre flight brief seemed to take longer than the flight it self. Little things like, dont open the air vents(cockpit) untill after take off, otherwise any water in there will turn to ice and make a mini hail storm .
I was expecting lots of noise , but at full power it was just like a vacuum cleaner in the room next door.

The acceleration was amazing (cant imagine what A/B would feel like) .... when we lined up on the runway at Wigs , he gave it full noise with the brakes on ..... the nose drops , let the brakes go ...and away.
A couple of times we came in close to the other T, and used the speed brakes to formate , when they go out (speed brakes) its like braking hard in your car at 100k , actually pushes your head down.

Down through the basin, we were down to about 4 or 500 feet, and rolling inverted over the hill tops ....then up a bit to drop a "bomb" on the clyde dam ...and then home via Timaru (low pass) a few aero's over the lake when we got the big red "low fuel" light, a high speed beat up of wigs and in to land. The best day of my life.
