First, I have no idea, if the Alliance as an australian Airline and the YS 11 ever have been flown in NZ, but... i like this exotic aircraft... but I have no work for this in Japan, because I don´t fly there. In Europe Olympic from Greace, the old BEA and Icelandair have used it ... a Long time ago. Meanwhile are only 5 examples left from this type with around 180 build in the 60´s. In Japan the last flight with a YS 11 was 2006. It was simple a ecopnomic question. These aircraft have no TCAS and to build it in was to much money for these old airliners. And so they passed away...

Here in other times we can see this aircraft in Wellington.



Start the eninges... the YS 11 has Rollce Royce-Dart-Engines, the same like the Hawker Siddeley H.S. (BAe) 748. But the YS 11 is heavier.

We are flying over the coast.







I have "flown" in the last time a bit the new Airbus A 320/321 made by Aerosoft. This cockpite here is a bit "back to the roots".





Flying this Aerosim YS 11 is easy. It is a good airliner for guy´s having not time enough to read big handbooks.



Well, i think, this aircraft is "classic" with ist clean lines. But the smaler H.S. 748 and the Fokker F. 27 have outproduced this airliner. And she is nearly forgotten.



The coast is inside.



Look at the wheater, the clouds. Here you can see the comprimise. I have only an I5 760 and sometimes it is better, the reduce the clouds.



We are now in the area of Waiouru (NZRU) with the Mount Ruapehu in the background, the highest vulcano in NZ with 2797 m. It is the highest Point in the northern Island.

On the other side is the Lake Taupo with Turangi... a bit away.





Reporting runway in side ... We have a bit to do, no ILS, no nonsense just handwork.







Rrrruuuummms! Back on mother earth again and not all to bad. The aircraft is in ine piece.

This is the end of another flight in NZ and I want to thank all the people, giving us the nessesary aircraft and scenery.

Gentlemen, I have a Problem with this aircraft... oh not to fly it, but with the lack of Repaints. I am searching vor Reeve´s Aleutians, Hawaian Airlines, Midwest Aoirlines Olympic Airlines and Iclandic Cargo. Any help is welcome, a paintkit is available. But... I have not the time and the experience.

Nice one Andreas , I showed this aircraft off back in the FS9 days after it had just been released after i had just released Invercargill airport and flew up to Christchurch International , back then the - a neighbour worked for a airport transport firm and thought it was a 748 ... he said he was to by a PC just to follow the very same flight ... don't think he followed thru but your flight really brought back memories .

Thank you Ian. I like these older aircraft, not these high tech Super-duper-all in two-display-aircraft. It is another type of flying.

Super-duper ... i do like the older not fly em them self types .. wicked one for the NZ sectors is the CS-737 but Rick Pipers 748/Andover series would be equals to your YS-11

Yes, the H.S. 748 from Rick is a great and not all forgiving aircraft. I like it and have it since FS 2004 in my inventory. Must see about Repaint´s for NZ. Yes jets brings a lot of fun... maybe, but... I am that type of FS-User, I want to see something from the landscape. So I am looking allways for a good compromise between Speed, good view around and not to complex.

I guess the most iconic type with all the above .. able to get in anywhere would have to be the Captains Flagship .. the Herc

Ah yes the Nippon version of the Squiddly Diddly 748. I flew on one of these from Honolulu to Maui during my honeymoon....can't remember the operator though.

Nice to see the YS-11 make an appearance. Few people seem to have this Aerosim model, and as a result, there are only a handful of repaints available. The only ones I know of are the following:

Aeroflot (fictional) at Sim-Outhouse
American Airlines (real) at Sim-Outhouse
British European Airways (BEA) (fictional) at Sim-Outhouse
Bouraq Indonesia Airlines (not sure if real) at Sim-Outhouse

I recall like one other type a plastic kitset , this and the other was the Convair CV880 from the same kitset company, two really lessor known types ... the YS11 never really caught on did it , only just over 180 .. not bad for a 1962 design .. sorta around my development

Well, the YS 11 is a bit bigger as the H.S. 748 and the Fokker F. 27 ... typical aircraft of the same time... and have place for 60 Seats. In the concept, she is a forerunner vor the BAe ATP and the SAAB 2000. Maybee, she was not "a great aircraft", but solid and she has not made many headlines.
The list of useres of this type in the Wikipedia seemed to be correct.

This is one of my dreams... flying the YS 11 from Fairbanks over Anchorage, Cold Bay, Dutch Harbour to Adak... one of the most challenging adventures in my eyes...

Due to hot and hi conditions in Africa the aircraft was rated to carry 40 passengers only , guess the aircraft would have been more successful if it used Alisons

Yes, she is under some circumstances underpowered. Same as with other british aircraft like the BAC Trident 1 against the Boeing 727-200. The Boeing 727 has far more punch as the chinese found it out in Lhasa Gongar

The 748 package i have is one i got from Britsim and it has the Mount Cook paint who were the NZ operators of the type
