Thanks largely to idiots buying or building next to airports and subsequently complaining about noise, the classic 737 200s have been forced from the skies in Australasia. It seems the last refuge for these magnificent aircraft is North America, in particular the 'very north' of North America.

One of First Air's 737 200Cs sitting on the ramp at Yellowknife prior to departing on a night freight run to Winnipeg.

Nice screen Nick

.... a really funny story about those idiots , a Caribou had engine trouble after a display at Omaka mid 2000s , they brought into Wigram for fixing .. still sit in my mind the engine run-ups going into the late Thursday and Friday evening - I could hear it from very clearly - music to my ears and its greatest swansong was on the Saturday , further engine runs then a test flight directly over the airfield as it spiraled up so did the noise

the RAAF aircraft was there another couple days , some people .

I have to deal with idiots here almost on a weekly basis. Doing a lesson here on Saturday, second circuit, thats right second circuit, this prick was out there taking photos of me and ringing the council and probably CASA. Good thing nobody takes any notice of him anymore.

That is past being unbelievable and how long has the airfield existed , some peoples brains were really grown in a vegetable patch ... they should sell the housing around airfield with a requirement to be aviation enthusiast and not ass's .

Couldn't agree more Ian.

Loading up for the return trip to Yellowknife. Excuse the scenery, there is very little scenery for this part of the world.

It is a wicked little model so it makes up for the lack of scenery , spose if you get over to that neck of the woods you might dabble with a little scenery

Hopefully if I get over to that neck of the woods, I won't have time to design scenery! Its a good model alright although Im a little dissapointed with systems. I guess we didnt spend enough time on the ground but theres a battery drain glitch and a few other things that are a pain in the arse. Ive sorted most of them out now though. I contemplating getting the 727 to do freight runs with as well.

The Captains 72 is a just as good , great thing the operation and start up is the same but textures in cockpit are slightly different giving that extra real feel .

A few from last nights flight.

Settling into the cruise between Ottawa and Winnipeg.

Taxiing in at Winnipeg

Unloading the freight. Off to Yellowknife next.

The CS 732 isn't a bad bird if you apply a few simple fixes to it. I do hope they bring out a patch soon though.

COOL Screens Nick

, nothing like the old school navigation , that were its great using those A4 size flight charts , you can fly the CH-AK-Ch route easily at night

You know my reservations about realism Ian so I don't think Ill be flying it in NZ but I agree that is fairly easy to navigate old school. The other thing is how easy it is to hand fly. I find that the flight dynamics tweaks that I've applied make it much nicer though. There's a battery drain glitch that you have to fix, autobrakes applying themselves! I don't know how that got through beta testing! There is a 'V1' gauge made by a member of the community that gives you a all the take off and flap speeds for certain weights in addition to a virtual co pilot making speed calls for you. It takes a bit of work on the aircraft cfg but its well worth it.

From what i read in the Captain Sim forums a lot off those little problem were getting looked , Australian chap Mark is a regular and was the similar issues you pointed out .. i checked the forums there for a long time , just after Christmas , ill have a scwizz later on and if anything has or is been done about it .

That area i just watch the "25 years of Boeing 737 in NZ" doco recall it in my brain case and away you go

Yeah she's a real all-rounder huh. I've been flying the 732 a little in Alaska and the Caribbean lately. Good sport, and as you say, fun to hand-fly. Also love the old Sperry A/P and pitch modes etc
chopper_nut wrote:There's a battery drain glitch that you have to fix
Yeah thats a pain huh. How about that avionics power switch toggle on the rear panel behind the F/O seat, do you also have to hit that to restore avionics periodically?

Nah once its on and as long as there is power going to it then it shouldn't need to be reset. If your having issues, get onto the CS forums. Some quite good fixes on there. Once that battery drain thing is fixed then there shouldnt be too many avionics problems.
