Nigh on half-a-century ago, I was at Biggin Hill on a RAF selection thing. They had a museum there, a hangar packed with all sorts of B of B aircraft..I was totally amazed to find a Stuka was not all that much smaller than a Heinkel 111, and umpsly huge compared to a Hurricane or Spitfire. Later we had a sort of intro thing, and the officer asked what everybody wanted to do in the RAF. The guy beside me, an English chap, head and shoulders taller than my 5' 10", said 'I want to be in fighters - I want to fly the (EE) Lightning' . The officer suggested he had better think again, because he would just not physically fit in a Lightning cockpit. In them days I was naive enough to still believe honesty was the best policy, so when he asked me, I said I was looking at a short-service commission (7 - 12 yrs) in Transport Command flying multi-engines, after which I would move into commercial aviation - not the wisest strategy, as it turned out. In the end after all the tests, they said I was more suited to Air Navigation Officer, or Air Electronics Officer, but I wanted to be the driver, not the conductor....

I got like a zillion emails in my inbox today with a subject of just "Coupon" I did a shady look to see what it was turns out it was from Milviz a coupon attached for discount on the new 737 and a message to tell me that they were sorry but the last coupon sent was not activated took ages to delete them all, kinda strange I thought.
