Nik and I continued our journey in FSX multiplayer this evening, and what a lovely evening it was for flying from Napier, across to Taupo and on to Rotorua.

This was our first evening flight, so climbing out of Napier we had the sun setting to our left

We sat at a cruise altitude of 5000ft for the flight, chewing the fat about VATSIM, IVAO, FSX AI and the occasional pockets of turbulence we encountered..

And then enjoyed watching the sun slowly sink into the west. No sign of the comet however, the thickening cloud didn't help..

I managed to catch the last crack of sunset under the clouds before night set in on approach to Taupo with Nik in hot pursuit

Very short finals at Taupo

And us both safely on the ground before heading to Rotorua.

Both airborne, and then with the city lights below us...

This shot shows the cockpit reflection in the windscreen quite well

We have left Taupo well behind.

Descending over Rotorua city..

To finally land until next time.

great screenies jon :P

That VC is yet another excelllent job by MS. Also those night city textures are awesome! Looks just like, the real thing (now lighting like that in really high res photoreal mmmm)

So in a C172 how long does a flight like that take?

Cool Jon, was that a default repaint?

This flight was a couple of hours all up Jimmy, that included the stop overs. The 172 has really impressed me, the Garmin 1000 cockpit is interesting as well

And monkeybdg, yes that was a default skin for the 172. They have chosen some interesting colours and provided quite a few variations for most of the aircraft types.

the Garmin 1000 cockpit is interesting as well

I have tried flying with the aircraft with this system but they are completly unflyable as fps dont get above 5 <_< I dont understand how too displays like that can give such a perfroamce hit, were as I jump in the the C172 that dont have it and fps are double

I suppose it could be made into a sub panel, or just an edit of the cfg to make it smaller might give better perforamce hmm..........

That's interesting - I don't get any noticable performance hit from the G1000, in either the 172 or the Baron.

Interesting rego on that Cessna repaint Jon. Is it a real life repaint ??
ZK-NAC was originally worn for the first time on one of the National Airways Corporation early Boeing 737-200s when they first came to NZ (just a useless peice of historical info there  ).

Hey Lawrie,

Yeah that was a little homage to the first 732, thats actually a default FSX skin with the rego overlayed. But look out for something in the future interesting with the 738 you might like

hints? I thought my last reply was hint enough, when I say ridiculous I mean it in a way that suggests the opposite, if you get my drift :ph43r:

One thing I feel FSX does particularly well is the night textures around towns, much better that FS9 in my view.
