Tried out the Ryan Navion from the SOH team, in some scary weather. Climbed out until I was over Pukaki, then doubled back, climbing all the way. Then had to lose all that height to get under the cloudbase and find my way in to Haast.
The Navion is a nice little plane. It needs to be flown, though - one can't just sit there quaffing a glass or two of coolant and looking out the window, as if it was a C152

Excellent looking for freeware. I have this installed - must take it for a decent spin (not literally!). SOH is out ATM...anyone know why?

Tako Kichi (Larry) reported on Cal Classic this morning that SOH had attempted an update, which went bad on them with a few minutes left to go (always the way, isn't it?).
They are working to fix the update, then they will run it again. Back soon, all being well - but it is night-time over there.

Pity there aren't any real Navions in NZ.
