Leg 3 of my recent flight from Brookings (KBOK) to Redding Municipal (KRDD).

This leg is from Siskiyou County Airport (KSIY) to Redding Municipal (KRDD).

The highlight of this flight is clearly the 14,000+ ft peak of Mount Shasta near the Northern California border with Oregon.
This flight heads south to Redding, a major city in the north of California.

Add-ons used in this pictorial flight:

Scenery: MegaSceneryEarth 2.0 Northern California
Aircraft: Carenado B1900D
Terrain Mesh: FSGlobal Ultimate: The Americas

=======================================================

Just departed Siskiyou and heading straight for Mt. Shasta. You will need a constant climb to reach 14,000 feet to circumnavigate the peak of this impressive geological structure.

The first circular farm field I have encountered since leaving the Oregon coast.

Approaching Mt. Shasta. Note the lava flows changing the landscape from the last eruption in 1786, almost 230 years ago!

The sight is impressive through the window of the flight deck!

Another look at those lava flows on the North-Western side, now covered with flora after 200+ years.

Getting close to peak altitude and ready to execute a 360 degree turn around the top of the snow-capped mountain.

Cloud hiding the mountain's secret!

An impressive sight in anyone's eyes!

The southern side of Mount Shasta.

And around to the Northern side. Perhaps the most impressive?

Heading south after making a circuit of the mountain. Note the logging of pockets of trees leaving its mark on the terrain below.

More logging in this impressive area of scenery. Note the major highway weaving south in the valley below.

The yellow-orange sand/desert style terrain we are familiar with in California is starting to appear up ahead on the flat lands. An amazing flight experience hear as you leave the mountains behind... but not for long!

Shasta Lake and Recreation Area below, marking the transition point to the flat lands ahead.

The city of Redding straight ahead. Note the difference in terrain colour here.

Straight in on a long final to Redding Municipal (KRDD)

Gear down and final landing checks complete. Still fairly high, but bleeding off altitude quickly now.

There's Redding Municipal right ahead.

Safely down and passengers disembarked after a memorable flight.

Wonderful shots, reminiscent of my daily flights for the past 15+ years around the Pacific Seaboard of North America; California, Oregon, and Washington State.

Wonderful scenery to be seen in California!
