The consensus seems to be that 2.2 is the killer version to have.
I flew around Banks Peninsula (checking out my new home:) and just everywhere I looked was just stunningly realistic -- the nice soft lighting, shadows in the valleys, even the squally cloud shadows on Lake Ellesmere in the distance. And all at a nice steady clip.
(Although I can still overload it with weather, Wellington in a storm is still a bit much for my system. But it looks good.)

Yeah, Banks Peninsula is all volcanic rock, so mainly it just grows tussock...

This is also P3D2, slightly Photoshopped, over New York state (suspected compass malfunction over Manchester). FTX Global and Vector.

If you treat the new version 2.2 as 2.1 without the OOMs, it's fantastic. Some people are trying to max out the cloud shadow settings which, as Rob suggests, doesn't work on most current systems. Basic cloud shadows like the ones shown don't stress the computer too much in terms of frame rates. You'll notice that distant cloud shadows are not rendered on this setting.
