A question about MipBias. Anyone use it and with what success or not? These two shots are TOP - a dupe of a recent shot over Queenstown; edited, sized and jpeg'd. BOTTOM - similar location with MipBias entered in .cfg; unedited, sized and jpeg'd. The Level Of Detail is noticeably better.

A very good show and maybe be helpful for many others, again just simply to play around with settings , I think many on this forum here take for granted , once installed 'a program will do all the work' but it dose require that little tinkle and tweek. cool.gif

This one is unbelievably simple and appears to do some good. By the way - really like your A26; that smidgen of color really does the trick.

The thread at SOH refers to a tweak for "the blurries" and, in turn, refers to this article by Bill Womack http://iblueyonder.com/fsx-relief-for-the-blurries/ From what I've gathered this allows textures to pop in place further ahead resulting in an improved LOD. Strictly an appearance tweak but relatively painless to try. In FSX.cfg add the line "MipBias=6" (without quotes) under the smaller DISPLAY (the one describing your video card, type of filtering and antialiasing). In your card settings or Nvidia Inspector, make sure the line - 'Negative LOD bias'...says....'CLAMP'. Note Bill's article is dated 2007 - nothing new under the sun.
