Thanks Ian. It's taken a while to get it right. I'm in awe at how.fast some of the painters can get.their repaints out there and the sheer numbers too! Very impressive. This is.my 7th repaint ever...and I feel like I've learned a lot on this one just about how to use photoshop and some new techniques...which are probably basic uses of photoshop for most but which blew my mind when I discovered them! Haha...

You never stop learning with photoshop, by compare to the early version and stayed with PS7 was released to the whooping cost of CS5.5 and the changes and the different tools that come with it, the good thing added is the Illustrator, that is so handy for fonts and panel lines, still getting use to that after using watching Corel draw grow from 3,7 to 9, all able to pluggin onto CS5.5 .

I think I'm on the Basic level of learning...moving to slightly better than basic! Haha. But honestly I'm shocked at how fast some guys can pump out repaints! Like zsoltquack over at SOH. I don't understand how he can produce so many repaints for so many different aircraft so fast!?? It takes me forever to get things done! Half the time I have to stop because I don't know what I'm doing I guess! Lol.

Honestly I think many have learned the tools being taught at a arts college or university, when I started playing with Corel draw in the early 1990s I taught myself, reason for Corel draw I wanted an art package and also one that can do scaled engineering drawings, CD3 was accurate like that and was far cheaper than autocad programs which were limited to just engineering.

Ian, yes, I suspect that some formal training is afoot with most of the really talented repainters! I'm just muddling my way through leaning as I go. Which is fun too.

superb Rick,..I too just learn as I go with repainting,..still havnt come to grips with layers properly as well as much of the othe supposedly basic tools haha ...keep doing what your doing its looking excellent !

That is the most 'fun' part is using these programs, flightsim is almost secondary and seeing what can be achieved and result like yours prove that theory

Thanks Adrian! I know what you mean...it feels like each time I discover something I think to myself "wow, that was easy...how is it that I didn't know about this before!" And it turns out to be something very basic which, I'm guessing had I taken a class I would have learned week 1! haha

Ian, I agree, FSX is really bringing out my artistic side! haha...I actually took animation first semester of University and then decided I didn't want to pursue a career in that field, but I do like to draw...however the stuff I've done recently has been in the Marvel Avengers Universe...and actually I did them on my phone...a Galaxy Note 3...they didn't turn out half bad for the medium used. I was impressed with the phone! haha but that's another story...if you're interested in seeing them let me know.

I've connected to many art sites and really studied many different styles, me I'm very realistic and historical and only getting back into water colours after a century, great is studying others work, Yeah really would like to see if you want to share them with me.... that would be great .

Ive been working on two full water colour pieces , both very experimental but both are showing superb results... course both War and aircraft themes.

But it's also digital media so much different feel than using physical medium. A lot you can do, and some things I hate about it too. It doesn't feel real to me in some respects. Can't really describe it...yeah I'll share them.

Thank you very much Rick , everyone has their niche in art and yours is another format were imaginations go wide and wild ... Ive sign to a lot of freelance art sites, one drawing I put a tender in for one .....
