Posted: Sun Oct 26, 2014 10:18 amThis flight actually ended in disaster, I'd tried to transfer the weather from one flight to another (REX can sometimes produce real-world weather which I want to preserve as a 'theme', I'll have to figure out how to do that), but something went wrong, and I lost a lot of controls -- when I was coming in to land at NZWN, I did this amazing wing-over, and plummeted straight down into the harbour. The effect of seeing the water come at me was so real that I couldn't actually experience the crash, I hit 'Alt-F4' before I hit the water.
It is really hard to describe the difference cloud shadows make -- unless you spend some time flying in different weather/times, you don't really appreciate what an improvement these are over previous sims.
These shots were all taken within a few minutes, when everything was being alternately lit up by the sun appearing under the clouds. The last shot shows how the sun can light up the glass, the effect is amazing.
The movement of the light, shadows, and turbines can't really be shown in a still shot, though. I would have recorded this, but I was very aware that my aircraft was playing up...

agree with Ian ... all great , but #2 is stunning .
