Good one Marty. Those skis look pretty streamlined - wonder how much they lose with them?

Banged me head on this one many times, the 'Warners bar' mid Christchurch city years back had one ski on display, brilliant idea - like the hotel gone now ... wonder what happened to that ski ? ..... The LC's are the pretty Herc's tho I do prefer the pre 1999 US NAVY scheme , more vibrant and aggressive looking.

If i can recall properly, talking to the pilot of the one that was on static display at Warbirds over Wanaka a few years back they lost about 15-20kts on the ski's their arrival certainly showed it didnt lose much speed as they made an 'observation' pass straight down the middle of the runway at a level lower than the gold pass stand tops at 250+

Cheers guys, Ian , they still bring in a skier with that name , and its the first one to arrive each year. May not be the same a/c . Not sure if NSF handed over to VXE-6 ... maybe the other way around , and of course the New York Air Guard guys and girls do the biz today.
You would have had one over your place this afternoon ... hard to miss from your place when 29 is active.

I had Chris 'lowglow' , halfway thru the convo, I stopped looking directly out .. I said to him all a LC, the NSF is still affiliated with the US Navy, but USAF took over the job driving the Herc's to Antarctica , I have a great book describing the NYAG operations in the Arctic, when writing there LC s were waring 'European One ' camo .... talking about sticking out like dog balls biggrin.gif
