I've already put mine in - and probably won't change it - but for those looking for a bit of inspiration, you could do a lot worse than the latest offering from JustFlight. This aircraft has *so much* history ... Amelia Earhart, "Casablanca" and our very own ZK-AFD (now preserved at MOTAT).

Go grab it while it's on an introductory offer price!

OK here's a brain-teaser for you all ...

KAKA (Parrot) : https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/New_Zealand_kaka
KUAKA (Bar Tailed Godwit) : https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bar-tailed_godwit

All the pics I've seen have it as "KAKA" (cue "Dead Parrot" Monty Python sketch) - which makes that livery wrong ;)

Adam.

In Polish, "Kaka" is something small children (and maybe old farts like me) do in their pants

I think Monty's dead parrot is is the better choice ... least when hunters go out culling they can only blow the stuffing out off it

Want some VC shots to get you off the fence?

Worth a go if you have some JustFlight credits left ;)

Hahaha ... I knew it wouldn't take long, LOL!

I used to know that sketch so well that I think I could repeat it word for word (parrot fashion   ). I worked in theatre and was lucky enough to see Monty Python live on-stage a couple of times. Not only were they funnier than on TV, they were *superb* actors (they constantly ad-libbed and took the pi** out of the audience). It takes a lot of skill to sustain a comedy over a 2hr show. We were in stitches/agony!!

One night, we had the dreaded punter in the audience that would say the line out loud a second before the actor delivered it. When John Cleese heard his line "does it talk?" come at him, he didn't stop for a millisecond, but turned round, stared right at the twit in the front row and said "can it articulate somewhat?".

In the famous "Torremolinos" travel-agent sketch, Michael Palin kept up a high speed monologue for what seemed like ages. He had a radio mike, so even when the men in the white coats dragged him off the stage, through the auditorium and right out into the street, he was still ranting. Marvellous stuff!

Michael Palin again ... in a later sketch .. appeared to get very offended by some heckling. He stopped, strode right over to that side of the stage and shouted and screamed that he had better things to do in life than entertain the likes of him. We all went *very*quiet. It looked ugly. There was a full 30sec silence, after which Palin said "Do you know what I'd really want to do? What I'd *really* like to be???" Another [long] pause ... "a LUMBERJACK!!!" - and they launched the song. It brought the house down!

I met John Cleese in England one night, was dining in a restaurant, everyone was getting bad service from a waiter who was obviously having a bad night, he rolled with it and went right into a Basil Faulty character and ripped the place apart, was hysterical. Then in 95/96 I think it was I met Michael Palin here in Auckland whilst he was filming his Full Circle documentary, travelling around the Pacific Rim. He had just finished throwing himself off a hotel in downtown Auckland... Both a class act...

Looks like a nice aircraft. I'll see about picking it up if any of the bugs are fixed. I've been reading the thread at SOH and some people are highlighting some pretty significant things, with AH responding that it's JF's decision if they want to fix it.

Also curious about the Dove/Devon.

That's a in regard to the Electra, the "ZK-BUT of Trans-Island Airways" if anyone wanted photos or information I have it here, there was two schemes put on the aircraft in it short history after crashing in Christchurch .. a ground loop put into the MOTAT museum.

http://www.edcoatescollection.com/ac2/NZAM/ZK-AFD.html I think this leads to the reasons behind the names and the airframes.

A nice little add and historic reference to the Electra and its true identity.

Yes - it explains what happened to the airframes - but not about the names. Looks like the original ZK-AFD was called ""Kaka" (as many pics of the cut-off fuselage show):

But when ZK-BUT was rebuilt, it somehow got named "Kuaka" - if only for a while. It looks like the name has since been removed altogether. I'm wondering whether someone realised "Kuaka" was a mistake.

Great photo Adam, you would find the more historical aircraft being substituted with real McCoy air-frames simply because of their more well known historical reference, most never would have heard of 'Inter Island Airways' , it then go's to a committee who decide the best way to display the more intact airframe and go from there ... a real 'Classic' example is the RNZAF historical flight Harvard and .... who ever did the paint on that should have been shot ... the fonts are so incorrect , but now people believe that is how it was.
