It's been a while since I was down under even though I have most of the Orbx stuff for Australia. So I figured it was time to re-acquaint myself with the continent and also with the PMDG NGX. I took it from Cairns International to Alice Springs.

1. Taxi out to RWY 33


2. We are close to MTOM today, so we backtrack for full length


3. And we are airborne. The apron is still a bit empty, I haven't installed any AI packages yet.


4. Positive rate, gear up


5. First turn of the departure, so as not to disturb the people living down there by flying straight over them with takeoff power set


6. I love this livery by McPhat. Regardless of anything else, they are some amazing repainters. Unfortunately they fell out with PMDG and were never able to sell these 4096x4096 liveries. They are a bunch sharper than the default ones. You can still get them I think, the two packs are donationware.


7. Chilling in the cruise


8. After getting settled in a steady VNAV descent, we set up for an RNAV approach RWY12 in Alice Springs.


9. Stabilized, autopilot disconnected for landingg


10. Pax view towards the main part of town


11. Qantas 767 with some ground handling

Yes great post. Not an airliner flyer myself but posts like these wish I had time to get into it

Whined the window down , arm out the window .... get a good tan , course need to get back to work in ya PMDG NGX ... Crisp Screens

I'm usually not too much of an airliner flyer myself, and I don't really fly them by the book. I just hop in, figure stuff out and go. I had to remember again why the right engine did not start on the NGX until I had the air conditioning packs in the right configuration .

Bit like you Jasper, I'm still trying to figure out the switch to get a pip for weapons direction on the heads up display ...
