That come up well Mike B-) , thinking about it, I don't think JUST FLIGHT has a short hulled Hi-Bypass turbofan DC-8.

I can recognise a chubby high bypass engine when I see it, but I have to trust HJG to get it right, since I wouldn't know any better if they didn't. That said, NASA seems to have a soft spot for souped-up machinery - they do have the budget for it. "A B717 with RB-211s?"...no worries mate, put it in the R&D budget"

:D "NASA seems to have a soft spot for souped-up machinery" I would say more than likely the airframe hours are almost NIL .. on the ground getting modified for a different mission/sortie/project , were so low it was cheaper to re-engine it , plenty of spare parts and engines and mounts due to the wide body factor of the late 1970 early 1980's ... course the performance with a lightly weighted Eight B-)
