North Africa Multiplay

Postby scaber » Wed Feb 08, 2017 3:21 pm

Had the chance to take a mulitplay spitfire flight around the north west of Africa last night. A great time and with Global Landclass, together with P3D, the scenery is so much better than last time I did this quite a few years back. I took a few shots so you others could see what you're missing out on. Of course the company and associated chit chat was also a most worthwhile experience too.

Lovely shots in a hot Desert, Scaber!

They even made me feel warm in cold-old England at the moment!... ...!

Its good to see that some Folks are still using "Multiplayer"....!

...its quite rare now, since the old FS 2002 and FS 2004 "FS Host*" Multiplayer days, long ago!

It used to be regular occurrence, with groups of Chums flying together on week-ends!

They were Good Fun days!

It seems to have lost its popularity now!... :( ...!

I don't think it has lost its popularity, there are many site really hooking into it and it is ideally suited with a talk such as TS (Team Speak) for example.

I still hook into the FS Host server now and again, with my FS2004 + FS Navigator GPS Map, and my FSX + FS Tramp GPS Map.....

...for a bit of nostalgia...

But there are very few other Folks on-line at the time.

In the olden days it used to be full of folks in various get-together flights all round the World.

But that petered out with the introduction of FSX locked into; "Gamespy", which just left the FS 2002 and FS 2004 Pilots running on FSHost, where most of them still are!

The most popular method was, (and still is?), the drop-down Chat Window. Instant multiplay connection without requiring Team Speak (complications?) for correspondence.

I miss the regular weekend fun with my old FS 2002/FS 2004 Multiplayer Chums.

I found drop down chat windows a pain in the ass ! ... the great thing with the early MPs in 2002/4 it was able to run a server , have one PC as traffic control , communications and the other flying without hindrance ... hate the idea of fly and type , rather simply push button and chat to ATC or other.

The old Chat Window was great for chuckling at each others spelling mistakes as we flew....

...especially all those using the; "Ianglish Language"..... :D ....(Sorry Ian).... :wink2: ...!

The coming of FSX introduced all sorts of complications to the connection and communication process.

Instant FS 2002/FS 2004 in-game connection, and the Chat Window, allowed every one to get on line and chat with the minimum of delay!

FS 2002 and FS 2004 was designed for Multiplayer from the very beginning!

The introduction of FSX and Gamespy put a nail in that coffin for a long time!

I just need Motorcycle Multiplay with my Harley Davidson Chums in the USA now!.... .. ...!

You guys need to lookat JoinFS - it allows mulitplay flights with FSX, FSXSE, P3D with no annoying jutters like you get with fshost. Do a google search.
