Marty , were you there at the 1987 Singapore to Christchurch Air-race airshow? so cool B-) the first time the RAAF F-18 Hornet was shown to the New Zealand public .. did that very thing .. the slow high AOA drive pass at the speed you would drive home at ... that was a great show ! .. CRAP NEXT MONTH makes that thirty years back ! BUGGER!

Yes i was Ian ... standing under the DC-8's wing watching that hornet just crawl past , and then ... light the fires, and straight up ... never to be forgotten :)
Like the F-111 and his just subsonic flyby .... man , that was a show ... and all the regular traffic working in between displays ... magic.

:D , I did the filming, still have it on VHS .. be well worth putting that on DVD in chapters, one thing said to me I was told I was damn good shoot footage of aircraft smack in the viewer .. I guess it was the targeting eyeball.

The Stuff Captured for its time is impressive and from a different view, at the end put onto the VHS tape is a thirty minute documentary hosted by Rodney Bryant , it captured Me , brother Allan and Craig Gatenby at 7 years old .. quite a piece of footage , I had the whooping huge Video camera as they were back then, Al with his large camera and Craig with his Instamatic type , it was a great NZBC/TV1/2 capture.

I do have to get in there to set my DVD/Blue ray player sorted with world region stuff , that VHS , YEAH! the footage is really a step back in time, old Christchurch Airport .. quite impressive , even the first QANTAS 747 in the original Orange colour around landing 16.00 , turned out to be the 'City of Canberra' which was the first heavy I got into and in cockpit while en-route in 1980 to Sydney.
