It was a little After-work-flight... from the Comores to one of the last french positions in the Indian Ocean: Mayotte. Mayotte is geographically a part of the Comore Islands an now as "Departement de Mayotte" it is parte of France and of course a part of the "European Union". And the currency is the Euro.
Not much is to say about Mayotte. The Detachment of the French Foreign Legion here is more symbolic. The french Air Force and the french Navy are not permanent present here.

Agriculture is important here and a bit of tourism. Very special is this here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cananga_odorata
It´s terms of strategic importance and importance for France lay in as one entry to Reunion. For a long time flights from Paris to Reunion (the main french base in the Indian Ocean) have flown from here the last leg. But meanwhile Boeing 777 and 787´s fly often direct to Paris and other places in France. The Carrier is "Air Austral". Sometimes a military flight with C-160 Transall and meanwhile C-130 Hercules are underway between Djibouti, Mayotte and Reunion.
For the Comoros you can find here some informations.
