Playing with the fishers

On patrol in the north sea ... had a contact on a steady course at 11kts. Sonar advised it was "merchant"
We were at 400 feet doing 20kts ... ordered the boat to 50 feet and back to 15kts ... up scope .

Image

Visual confirmation .... no threat ... surface the boat ...

Image

Seems that nobody on the trawler was looking back ...

Image

But when they did ... or looked at their radar ... they didn't want to play. Oh well ...

Wow those screens are so realistic. How did you resist the urge to not just torpedo it anyway!

These are beautiful, only issue I have is that even thinking about submarines gives me a panic attack, I'm so claustrophobic. The recent news about the Argentinian sub was about the creepiest thing I could ever imagine. So you won't find me down there under any circumstances!

That is what you call 'septic workplace culture.'

I walked around a dry-docked sub once; claustrophobic is the right word! I (was) only a slim and short guy, but even I had to turn sideways through the doors!
What 'game' is that?

Thanks for looking gents.
CP ... must be honest...I let that trawler run for a while and then sunk it :ph43r: . I believe it was more than met the eye , well thats my justification.

Rob , the ocean scares me , ships make very nervous ...but Ive always had a yearning for submarines ... maybe a past life <_<

jpreou , its called "cold waters" you can find it on steam.

Dinga ... there was indeed ... well , I keep telling myself that. <_<
But I saw the lifeboats were full which is good ....its not the men Im hunting , its the machine , just a shame that they are inseparable most of the time.

Anyway "make depth 600ft , make turns for 15kts , steer 034 " Dont you love the virtual world .

Yes! There are things you can do that you can justify in the light of experiment!
I also knew you'd 'fess up B-)

I was a huge Age of Empires fan in years past.
Toward the end of the game you might have conquered most of the world, and needed to build a Wonder.
This required more villagers and less warriors within the max population cap.
You could delete them with a keystroke but I never did.
Some of the tasks I set them I won't/can't repeat here... but there was always a single survivor.
He would return to the priest for healing, in time to see the completion of the Wonder. :o

Charl ...although we have never met , you seem to have my number , so to speak :)
I had intended to "confess" regarding the trawler ...but it was CPs comment that prompted an earlier response.
Its really odd ...nothing really happened , nothing is real about any of this , just pixels dancing on a screen, but I "really" felt a little odd when I torpedoed that ship .

A strange kind of crossover between these two levels we exist in .... man , I need to get a job soon

It is one of these rules... unwritten, unspoken but typical. Never kill fisherman.
