And ... another balloon ... what a job that would have been. After a bit of research I found that the Brits didn't give their guys parachutes :( (I hope thats wrong) but the Germans did.

I am amazed about the ballon ... but it was a dangerous thing to sit in those kind of things to look out for the enemy artillery. They were the first in Germany, to have a parachute... 1917.

Balloons, Marty!

I remember watching the old Barrage Balloons flying over the City of London during the Blitz of London in 1940!

Trying to tangle up in the props of the invading Hun's aircraft.

Its a time I remember...(but try to forget).... :wink2: ....!

Amazing detail on those WWI aircraft!!! Lovely shots!! I think I still have R.O.F. somewhere .... I couldn't get very far with it - could never see anything to shoot at, with that ruddy great wing in the way!!!!
