I grabbed that this afternoon, Adam, it's definitely a keeper!

Its pretty A.S. 16 is "to big" and the new Opus version 5 produced on my system an exception and the "solution" of them did not help.

I also run OPUS. What issue did you have with it? Did you post it in their forums - if so, any chance of a link? I might be able to help.

... I think he's referring to "live" weather injection - which is done by ActiveSky, Skyforce3D or OPUS. OPUS is a far smaller app as it doesn't do textures at all - just live weather (and camera views).

I also got some weird error when I installed the latest OPUS build, but it went away and seems to run fine now.

Fine. In the next days I want to send You the failure-message... and hope at the weekend to find enough time for a deeper research.

Back to the preset... I use Active Sky+ASCA, so I wasn't expecting miracles from this preset. However it is the first third party preset I've ever used without having to seriously tweak to my liking.

Thanks, Rob - that's reassuring to know. I'm often worried that what I see on my PC isn't attainable on other systems due to all the myriad permutations of calibration or configuration. I don't have any calibration hardware, so have to be guided by what others report. It's all a bit hit and miss.

Sadly, the same applies to weather/texture systems. I'm finding the weather engine in Skyforce3D to be [currently] nowhere near as capable as that in Active Sky (or OPUS) - and I also have to add my ground textures with REX/Texture Direct. For previous presets, I've even used my old FEX sky textures. So ... I'm often having to use FOUR applications to achieve decent results. It's all very unsatisfactory.

I'm really hoping that I can stick to just the ONE application - and I'm looking to SF3D for that, but it won't play ball with PMDG, whereas Active Sky does. Arrrrrrrrrrrrrgh - what a mess!

One question though. Are you post-editing your screenshots in i.e. Photoshop? Because I feel that your PTA tweaks don't look as good in my screenshot as they do in yours.

Pic I posted is totally unedited, even the FPS counter is still visible

With PTA "announcement" shots, I'm careful not to do any editing bar cropping/resizing and maybe a tiny bit of localised sharpening to the terrain. Shade and colour (of primary importance to PTA) I leave well alone, so we can make fair comparisons. Are your P3D HDR settings the same as recommended for that specific preset (your shot looks very saturated)?

There may be some other settings that you might want to compare: my P3D/NVI settings. Beware - I have most settings maxed out for a slideshow!

EDIT: Do me a shot (with SLEW co-ordinates visible) - and time of day/weather conditions. If you have ORBX NZ (or any other ORBX area), then we could compare shots. Let me know also what weather add-on(s) you're using.

My HDR saturation is 0.94 just like in the description. I do have to mention I haven't got SkyForce 3D installed, but only REX4 TD enhanced and Soft Clouds. Although the sky textures are the same as the one in your recommendations.

I will try to make another screenshot tomorrow and post it here.

P3Dv4.1 HDR settings: Brightness: 0.80 | Bloom: 0.00 | Saturation: 0.88

Are you using the latest preset (26_02)? Looks like you may be using the old 26_01 preset and/or settings <??>.

You can have your "Pinglish" or "Ianglish" ... but I'll stick to plain old gibberish

A rough translation follows ...

The various possibilities are:

1) An old (ie. not latest) PTA preset was being used. Version 26_01 instead of the latest version, 26_02.
2) Version 26_02 was, in fact, being used but with the wrong P3D HDR parameters (inherited from the old 26_01) preset.

... and if you don't know what PTA is, I'm going to fly down and thump you!

PTA is designed specifically to confuse everyone - and to allow saddos like me to keep tweaking P3D when it really doesn't need tweaking at all (honest, guv)!

I'm using 26_02, with the P3D settings that were listed on the website. But looking at the site again I can't find those settings anymore, which makes me believe I used the wrong P3D settings I'll try it again with the new P3D settings!

If you click on the 26_01 link (here) it should expand the 26_01 details, which still has them I believe.

You're better trying 26_02, though
