Apologies in advance to anyone that may be offended by the tailfin insignia. For the comp, I entered a top-down view that doesn't show it.

Incredibly, this amazing aircraft has been made freeware by Milviz:

Appears to work fine in P3Dv4.1.

Great shot , great aircraft as well.
Just finished reading (again) Hans Rudel's book, "Stuka Pilot", published in 1953. A real insight into the thinking and technology of the era.

Re the swastika, its history. A political symbol, based on a very ancient Sanscrit symbol I think.
I have mixed feelings about it, but in the spirit of the forum ...a hobby... I think we can let it go ....history.
I think ...correct me here .... but in the later parts of the war, not all German aircraft had that on the tail .

Not sure about the swastika on the tail, but I do remember reading (somewhere!!) that very late on in the war, some pilots refused to add their "kills" to their aircraft - probably Galland's "boys".

Another great read is "A Higher Call": http://a.co/0TkqYtl

Think this is not correct. From the first to the very last aircraft of the Luftwaffe on the assembly-line, the swastika was always there. On the last aircraft it was not full, but she was ever there. I have never seen any original photo without Swastika. From 1943 onwards some of the aircraft have a only outlined swasika not good visible on old fotos. In black or white. Most of these photos without swastika are modified after the war in Germany. But if You have an example for me I want to check this. Have You any idea which type of aircraft it was?

Because too many are easily offended, when I 'restored' the Storch I 'found in a barn' in southern Germany ( ;) Orbx) I deliberately painted a modified marking on the tail.
I didn't want any of the warbirds at Wanaka using me for gunnery practice in March.

Between that, a NZ registration and the WOW decal logo I felt safer.

Along with my two pilots being NZAF non-comm flight officers.

Adam - I re-read Galland's book yesty and today. He does not mention that, although he does describe the causes of low morale in the later years of the war. However, in January 1942 he was given a job he didn't want, and in relation to that he wrote:
"In any case when my bag was nearing the 100 mark I had taken the precaution to be more sparing with my reports because I did not want to be recalled from the front at that point, as had happened to Mölders."
Happy to scan a few pages if you want more context, but this forum is not the place for that discussion.

Adam, this might be of interest - I hope to get a couple of days in Dunedin after Wanaka, but it depends on whether people need transport back to Chch

I thought the PM system was not working for you. I did post details in the Members Only section. If you don't meet with a coffee, you won't get your book :P
