Oh my... a cold and watery grave.
It's very good.

Very evocative. Although for me it really evokes my childhood, paddling out beyond the breakers at New Brighton beach in the evening.

'Propliner' is actually short for 'Proper airliner, with big rumbly radials'

My word that goes back a little, before my time!
A good read as I recall, put small naval vessels and their brave exploits on the map.
Remember PT109?

Thanks for looking gents.
Rob, I would be concerned if you were looking at waves that size with just a paddle.
Charl ...you hit it on the head ... a "watery grave". It wasn't until I posted it I thought, this is nightmare stuff for me ...and when Mike put that book cover ....
I hate the sea with a vengeance, I really do ...it terrifies me (some counselling needed here maybe)
But thanks for looking.

That's one of the classics, and as you can see it has been read to bits, literally. I find it almost impossible to throw out a book, even when I have a robust Hard Cover edition to replace it. I also have the Jack Hawkins movie in my tablet, to watch on the train to Bris. I haven't read a book of PT109, but I have seen the movie a few times. I have to say, I prefer the Ealing Studios version of WWII to the Hollywood one.

'ere!! that tea leafing geeza nicked my picky and put it on is fish hook , eye ope your not taking the Micheal Mike ....

Oops ... your a Scot, so the London slang wont mean much.... but it is great, the old Cockney slang.
A language ...and it is ... that is still evolving, as are most of the others. But the Cockney for some reason really appeals to me.

I just love Language, dialect , the origins , the evolution .... from hieroglyphics to computer code ...bloody amazing.

Sorry ...got a bit off course there ^_^
