Wow! Not bad for default, eh? One of my all-time favourite aircraft.
I'm going to wait until FSUIPC and PTA get updated before I install 4.3. Once installed, I may take a look at lashing up a RNZAF livery.

This is based on the Capt Sim version, and before anyone asks, I've tried the RNZAF paint for that, but the shading looks off...

According to Pete Dowson the FSUIPC that worked in 4.2 will work in 4.3. I can't say about PTA.

It's a free upgrade for all P3Dv4 users certainly ... not sure about old P3Dv3 users.

Here we are in P3Dv4.3 ...
Rob ... there are two things I did to make the old liveries work:
1) Removed the alpha channels from all the DDS textures. This didn't cure it - but I noticed none of the default C-130 textures had them for some reason.
2) Edited the texture.cfg (in each livery) to match the one in the Japanese C-130H livery. This is the main problem, I think - as the old NZ liveries would have been ointing to the wrong spec/bump maps.
Other than that - it looks (and behaves) like the Captain Sim model - exactly as it was (which is no bad thing, IMHO!). Not bad for free, eh?
Adam.

Ah, thanks for that! I did notice the alphas, and removed them yesterday, along with adapting the new .cfg file, but forgot about texture.cfg -- that did the trick!

Adam where did you get the livery from?
I have tried Cheesestrike's livery but it appears gray and washed out.

Sorted it out. I had to change the texture.cfg to match the Japan livery as well (copy and paste). Alpha channel doesn't seem to have any effect.

Rob - could you take a look at *all* the C-130 variants and check the textures on the two wing pods? I seem to get the tailfin textures repeated on them, no matter what I try.
@cowpatz try this:
http://www.nzfsim.org/index.php?dsp=dlo ... AF_DDS.zip.... or ...
http://www.nzfsim.org/index.php?dsp=air ... h=herculesIf I can get these tailfin/pod textures sorted I might repackage the whole lot.
Adam.

Looks like all variants are doing it. A texture mapping problem?

Yes, it's certainly more noticeable on the US versions, because of the flag -- the NZ paints don't look too bad from the outside, just the shading is a bit off, until you look at the aircraft views...

I see on the Prepar3d forum they've promised a fix in the next update.

Good to learn of a fix. Doesn't seem to be any bump mapping either.

Ok, another quick question for those who have used the CS C-130 -- how do I know what trim is set? Ok, i might end up reading the manual...

I wondered about trying that: using the old models (model.g etc.) but suspected they might not be P3Dv4.3-compatible, so didn't try. Thanks, Dave - I'll give it a whirl!!

Well done. Could you define adventurous.......as in how you did it?

What did you use to do this?
