More than likely the best view of one of these back in the day.

Wow! I like *all* your screenshots - but this one is one of your very best, IMHO.

I'm wondering whether the 109 could be classed an "Unsung Hero" <??>..

Thanks Adam ... its a tricky one aye.... unsung ...yes ...hero ..well that's subjective.
I have some really good shots (IMO) of some very famous Luftwaffe and Russian(as in WW2) aircraft, which were most certainly not the "underdogs" in any way, shape or form.
BUT .... to portray them HERE may cause some grief, due to the accurate historic nature of the markings ...in other words they have a swastika on the tail, and or score markings.
People like ... Werner Molders, or H J Marseille , just as important as Bader or Leonard Cheshire etc... subjective indeed.
What ever side they fought on is of no value now ... politics touched a very few of these people.

Sorry to drag this off topic.

Well - sorry - I'm going to keep this one off topic!!! :ph43r:

I know what you mean. I've often wanted to put up pics of either the Fw190 (which I love) and the Ju87 (which I don't, but it's such an amazing aircraft) - but felt I couldn't .. and they look a bit odd without the swastikas.

I'd love to say "hey - it's only a marking on an aircraft", but I had an uncle (sadly no longer with us) who had nightmares every night for forty years after the war (he was repeatedly tortured). During the day, the sight of *any uniform* would turn him instantly into a gibbering wreck. He'd probably have a heart attack if he ever saw a swastika.

I think the problem here is that it's not purely a military emblem - it's a symbol of a far greater evil. Sure - in war there are always atrocities on all sides - but Nazism goes way beyond war. But we won't go into that!! Ooops I just did!

Good reply Adam ... it will always be a debate I suppose.
I have screened the swastika before, and more than likely will again, but never as the centre of attention.
It's a shame that such an ancient symbol has come to represent so much bad poo...real bad poo.

Absolutely!

To get back on-topic ... is that DCS? I think there''s a sale on right now ... and I'm tempted by the 109 or Harrier.
